In just 30 seconds, medications can be dispensed efficiently, and patients can be monitored continuously for 24 hours. Even in the operating room, these robots can showcase their capabilities… On September 14, during the finals of the 7th Technology Innovation Competition organized by the Municipal Medical Management Center, 10 medical robots competed on stage, demonstrating new functions in intelligent healthcare. Currently, 22 municipal hospitals have begun performing robot-assisted surgeries.
At the finals, each robot displayed unique skills. During the demonstration at Tiantan Hospital, a robot designed for comprehensive care of cerebrovascular diseases received high praise for its humanoid appearance and gentle voice. It can communicate with patients, display simulated health data in real-time on a screen, and provide 24-hour monitoring. If any abnormal data is detected, it immediately issues a warning; the intelligent pharmacy robot showcased by Anzhen Hospital can not only quickly retrieve and deliver medications but also automatically verify medication information to ensure safety. Staff stated, “It only takes 30 seconds from receiving the prescription to dispensing the medication, greatly improving the efficiency of medication retrieval.”
The “Surgical Robot Assistant” also participated in the innovation competition, with a robot from Jishuitan Hospital demonstrating a simulated operation for pelvic fracture reduction. “It can achieve millimeter-level precision in reduction, increasing the success rate of surgeries,” a doctor from the hospital explained. Its three-dimensional imaging system can also present detailed bone structure in real-time, providing effective reference for the surgical team.
This competition, themed “Robotic Applications in Healthcare,” is an important part of the Service Trade Fair, focusing on cutting-edge global medical technology and attracting 92 projects from central and municipal hospitals in Beijing. After several rounds of selection, 10 projects with forward-looking and practical potential advanced to the finals.
The 10 projects signify that the application of medical robots in the capital has transitioned from isolated breakthroughs to systematic development,” said a relevant official from the Municipal Medical Management Center. All 22 municipal hospitals have begun performing robot-assisted surgeries, covering various specialties such as neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology. In the future, the city will continue to promote the clinical transformation and large-scale application of innovative results, allowing intelligent medical services to benefit more patients.
