The spring campus is filled with the fragrance of science. On the afternoon of March 28, 2025, the ICC project department of the Hainan Foreign Language School affiliated with Beijing Foreign Studies University grandly opened the second Science and Technology Festival themed “Exploring Science, Innovating the Future“.
This science feast, which integrates projects such as wastewater purification experiments, drones, robots, and 3D printing creations, provided teachers and students with a unique journey of scientific exploration. It not only ignited students’ enthusiasm for science but also showcased the limitless creativity of international class students.
Bilingual Opening, Igniting Passion for Science
Science and Technology Culture Festival
At 14:30, the square in front of the ICC building was filled with the charm of technology. With the opening by bilingual hosts, the Science and Technology Festival officially began. Two foreign teachers kicked off the event with interesting experimental demonstrations, instantly igniting the enthusiasm of the audience. “We were all amazed when we saw the wastewater become clear after several layers of filtration!” The students were thrilled. During the opening ceremony, a large screen simultaneously played science-themed animations, creating a strong atmosphere of scientific exploration.
Innovation Workshop, Engaging in Technological Practice

The wastewater purification experiment area became the focal point of attention. Under the guidance of foreign teachers, students built simple water purification systems using materials such as activated carbon and quartz sand. “This is our five-layer filtration device,” the students proudly showcased their work, “Every layer of material was selected after repeated testing.” Through hands-on practice, the children deeply understood the importance of environmental protection.
In the 3D creative workshop area, four printers were operating simultaneously, gradually forming anime characters such as Nezha and Ao Bing, which amazed the students. The technology teacher explained the principles of modeling on-site: “From digital models to physical works, this is the future trend of manufacturing.” It turns out that 3D printing is like magic, “transforming” into physical objects layer by layer! The display area next to it showcased meticulously crafted technological works: the Sword of Frostmourne, the Lich King’s helmet, and Mechanical Godzilla… Each piece embodies the children’s imaginative ideas.
In the ring toss game area nearby, laughter was constant as students lined up to try, each with two rings, and those who succeeded could take home exquisite figurines. “I got the little dragon!” Cheers erupted. Students competed to use rings to catch their favorite 3D printed works. The activity not only tested hand-eye coordination but also allowed children to experience the fusion of technology and art through play.
Disciplinary Integration, Showcasing Diverse Talents

The science fiction painting exhibition area showcased students’ imaginative ideas. These works cleverly integrated technology and environmental protection concepts, reflecting not only artistic talent but also the charm of interdisciplinary thinking.
The robot interaction area was equally lively. Robots controlled by programming danced flexibly to commands, and students took turns trying to input new action codes, experiencing the dual joy of programming and competition. “Making the robot act according to my ideas is so fulfilling!” a student excitedly said.
Seeds of Technology, Sowing a Wise Future
Science and Technology Culture Festival
It is worth mentioning that this event particularly adopted a bilingual teaching model, with Chinese and foreign teachers collaborating in guidance, and students serving as presenters, enhancing their expression skills while showcasing their learning outcomes. This allowed students to apply what they learned in practice. We place special emphasis on cultivating children’s safety awareness and team spirit. Scientific exploration requires courage and cooperation, which is the educational philosophy we aim to convey. Director Ou stated: “The Science and Technology Festival is not only a stage for display but also a classroom for children’s practice, cooperation, and growth.” Parents who watched the event through online live streaming praised: “Children learn while playing; this educational approach is fantastic!”
Wang Xing, the academic director of the ICC project, remarked: “Every experiment and every piece of work today is the first step for future scientists.” The short two-hour Science and Technology Festival sowed the seeds of science in the hearts of the children. As Principal Jiang summarized: “Today’s ‘little makers’ will be tomorrow’s ‘great scientists’.” After the event, many students continued to gather around the exhibits to discuss, and some had already begun to conceive projects for next year’s competition.
We firmly believe that through the carefully planned series of themed activities of the Science and Technology Culture Festival, we can not only fully stimulate young people’s strong interest in scientific exploration but also systematically cultivate students’ innovative qualities, practical abilities, and team spirit through a multidimensional empowering platform for innovative practice. In the process of deepening the integration of science and technology education with campus culture, such activities will continue to build a campus cultural ecology that values innovation, laying a solid foundation for the cultivation of innovative talents.
