Jun Cheng School consistently adheres to an international perspective and innovative education, dedicated to creating a cutting-edge science and technology practice platform for students. On March 27, the Science and Technology Festival themed “STEM and AI” grandly opened, showcasing Jun Cheng’s scientific and technological achievements through 20 technology booths and interactive experiences, further igniting students’ enthusiasm and exploratory spirit for technology.
Setting Sail: The Collision of Science and Technology with Education
Deputy Director of the Shunyi District Education Committee Zhang Xudong, Head of Private Science Chen Yanqing,Private Science Teacher Shi Chao and the heads of the Physical Education and Arts and Technology departments Ren Lichun attended the Science and Technology Festival, witnessing this technological feast together with teachers and students.Deputy Director Zhang Xudong highly affirmed Jun Cheng School’s exploration in the field of science and technology education in his speech: “The district education committee always regards the cultivation of scientific and technological literacy as an important direction for educational modernization. Jun Cheng School deeply integrates science and technology with education, showcasing an ‘student-centered’ innovative practice. Today’s Science and Technology Festival is not only a display of technology but also a microcosm of Shunyi education embracing the future.”
At the beginning of the opening ceremony, a drone formation performance controlled by students ignited the audience: four drones used lights as pens and the theater as a stage, accurately passing through ring obstacles in the air, and simulating star trajectories through matrix transformations, perfectly integrating technology and art.
Subsequently, seventh graders Shaq and Andy demonstrated an experimental data analysis system based on machine learning algorithms, generating solutions in real-time through voice commands, showcasing the practical application of AI in scientific research, earning rounds of applause from the audience.
The success of the Science and Technology Festival is attributed to months of meticulous preparation.Students learned drone programming, robot assembly, and sensor applications through workshops, and deepened their understanding of AI under the guidance of industry expert Dr. Fu Lijun. The teaching team provided full support, ensuring precise execution of every aspect from booth design to safety management. Each booth was led by student teams, showcasing the results of interdisciplinary learning.
Exploration: Breakthroughs in Technology and Creativity
Drone Booth:Student-programmed quadcopters became the focus. With high-definition cameras and obstacle course designs, the drones not only achieved aerial photography and obstacle avoidance functions but also integrated knowledge of aerodynamics and electronic engineering, demonstrating a complete learning chain from theory to practice.
Robot Booth:
Yushu Robot: A bionic leg design simulating the principles of biological motion neural control overcomes challenges of balance and terrain adaptation, reflecting a deep integration of robotics and biomechanics.
Mechanical Arm Calligraphy: By programming to control grasping and writing actions, younger students intuitively engage with mechanical principles and sensor applications, sparking the budding of logical thinking.
Autonomous Driving Booth: Inspired by Tesla, students built an Arduino model car equipped with ultrasonic and infrared sensors, simulating path planning and obstacle avoidance decisions in real scenarios, revealing the potential of artificial intelligence in the transportation field.
Ignition Point: The Fusion of Technology and Life
In addition to the core booths, this Science and Technology Festival also set up multiple fun interactive areas, showcasing students’ interdisciplinary creativity:
Rube Goldberg Device: A chain mechanical design presenting the intricacies of physics through the domino effect, subtly integrating engineering thinking into fun.
Robot Chef: The programmed “milk tea mixer” and “barbecue robot” accurately complete everyday tasks, bringing automation technology down to earth.
Green Energy Explorer: Solar-powered cars and wind power generation models dynamically demonstrate the principles of renewable energy, interpreting the practical value of environmental protection concepts.
VR Simulation Experiment: Through virtual reality technology, visitors traverse cosmic galaxies and deep-sea mysteries, experiencing the fantastic collision of technology and nature.
New Journey: Nurturing Dreams and Curiosity
The Jun Cheng Science and Technology Festival, with its atmosphere of free exploration, allows innovative thinking to take root and sprout in practice. When students control bionic birds soaring in the playground and use mechanical arms to write their first characters, we see not only a display of technology but also a glimpse of infinite possibilities for the future.
