In terms of domestic GPUs, our country already has consumer-grade graphics cards from companies like Moore Threads, Mu Xi Technology, and Cambricon. Recently, another fully domestic 5nm self-developed GPU has made a breakthrough and has successfully completed chip tape-out verification, and this company is—Xiàng Dì Xiān!
According to news from the Semiconductor Industry Network, on September 3rd, Xiàng Dì Xiān announced on its investor interaction platform that its newly developed next-generation “Fuxi” architecture chip has completed tape-out verification.
This new architecture chip exhibits excellent performance in graphics rendering capabilities and parallel computing performance, with performance and technical specifications comparable to the advanced level of international mainstream display chips.
In terms of specific manufacturing processes, the new generation “Fuxi” architecture chip’s GPU adopts a 5nm manufacturing process, achieving a computing power of 160 TFLOPS and integrating 12GB of video memory (by the way, Intel’s B580 graphics card also has 12GB of video memory).
In terms of specific performance, the Fuxi chip performs exceptionally well in graphics rendering capabilities and parallel computing performance, with performance and technical specifications comparable to the advanced level of international mainstream display chips.
In the past two years, domestic consumer-grade graphics cards have been rapidly catching up to international mainstream levels in terms of architecture design and performance. In addition to strong support at the national level, the flow and overflow of talent are also very important factors.
As we previously mentioned, many of the R&D personnel at Moore Threads come from NVIDIA, while most of the R&D personnel at Mu Xi Technology come from AMD. Xiàng Dì Xiān’s R&D personnel include those from international giants NVIDIA and AMD, as well as from domestic company Haiguang Technology.
Speaking of Xiàng Dì Xiān, it was reported by domestic media that the company had officially disbanded at the end of August last year, with all 400+ employees terminating their contracts.
Just when everyone thought this company was about to “cool down”, Xiàng Dì Xiān suddenly announced in February this year on its official WeChat account that it had successfully obtained hundreds of millions in new financing.
In addition, Xiàng Dì Xiān has also introduced strategic cooperation with A-share listed company Anfu Technology and several well-known venture capital firms. With so many investment institutions and strong support from the government, it may go further in the future.
From Xiàng Dì Xiān’s strategic direction, the release of the existing “Fuxi” architecture GPU product is just a preliminary display of strength, representing its capabilities in chip design. In the future, the company plans to collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to build a complete domestic GPU industry chain ecosystem covering chip design, manufacturing, and application development, further breaking the monopoly of international giants.
