The first generation of semiconductors is led by SMIC. It is the first choice for entering the semiconductor industry, often referred to as the “Huangpu Military Academy”. Following that are Wuhan Xinxin, Yangtze Memory Technologies, Changxin Technology, Qingdao Xinen, Silicon Motion, Shaoxing, UMC, and others.
For the third generation of semiconductors, the most comprehensive and largest player is Innoscience, followed by San’an Optoelectronics, Nenghua, Dalian Xinguang, Fangzheng, and Shanghai Xinwei. These companies all have fabs; the remaining fabless companies are not worth mentioning, as they completely rely on fab processes. Whether domestically or internationally, if they cannot manage the processes, there is not much good design to be done. Moreover, if financing is inadequate, the owners tend to frequently lay off employees, which is frankly not very friendly or stable, so caution is advised.
For SiC, San’an is quite significant, followed by Xinyue Neng in Nansha, Guangzhou, which is basically a semiconductor company, and Fangzheng is also noteworthy. Other fabless companies are not worth mentioning. Currently, the third generation of semiconductors largely depends on EPI and fab processes, which design companies cannot manage.
Companies that have both GaN and SiC and possess fabs include San’an, Fangzheng, and Shenzhen Pinghu Laboratory. The above is for everyone’s reference.
In terms of domestic EDA software, Huada Jiutian is the leader, with revenue surpassing 10 million in 2023 and a net profit of 2 million, considering they only have over 1100 employees, which is quite impressive. Gai Lun Electronics is also notable; they are in the second tier but are publicly listed, and Gai Lun Electronics was the first domestic EDA software company to go public, even before Huada Jiutian. After all, the first tier is dominated by European and American companies like C and Siemens, and the domestic industry started late, only developing for 15 years, to break into the second tier requires continued support from everyone.
Although those who have worked there may not speak highly of it, the scale is indeed quite large! They can be considered as leading domestic players in the semiconductor industry!
