After only three years of operation, Amazon has become the second largest online e-commerce platform in Belgium, surpassing local competitor Coolblue, and is only behind the Dutch platform bol.com (which has approximately 2.5 times its revenue). In 2022, Amazon launched the Hoboken logistics center (with about 100 employees) and partnered with 14 logistics companies to enhance delivery efficiency through electric cargo bikes and same-day delivery services. Amazon plans to invest over 1 billion euros in Belgium from 2025 to 2027, while also investing over 1.4 billion euros in the Netherlands to strengthen its fulfillment capabilities, prompting adjustments in local platform competition.
