The studio is Joost’s place for design experimentation, where the creative process often unfolds in a rather instinctive and expressive manner. He is fascinated by and values the process of making, often spending entire days immersed in it, with the sounds of creation and construction filling him with immense excitement.< Curves and Tape > explores the importance of autonomy and intuition in the design process, originating from an expressive posture that exists not merely to fulfill functionality but focuses on shaping and constructing like a sculpture.
Joost van Bleiswijk (born in 1976 in the Netherlands) is a designer, artist, and educator. He met his life partner Kiki van Eijk while studying at the Eindhoven Design Academy, and they established their own studio in 2001, now one of the prominent names in Dutch design. His works span various fields from exquisite furniture to large installations, from architecture to accessories, and from lighting to ceramics. Compared to Kiki’s fantastical and aesthetic style, Joost prefers to use bold shapes and strong lines to achieve daring creativity.
