On September 12, Dongma Primary School in Mancheng District, Baoding City, held a unique calligraphy ceremony for first-grade students. The event, themed “Enlightening Wisdom through Tradition and Empowering with Technology,” perfectly blended traditional culture with modern technology, providing children with an unforgettable first lesson in school.
The ceremony officially began at 8:30 AM. In the schoolyard, the students participated in traditional rituals such as dressing properly, applying red powder to enlighten their minds, and beating drums to express their aspirations. During the enlightenment and calligraphy segment, the children carefully wrote their first character “人” (person), symbolizing their commitment to integrity and ambition.
The most eye-catching part was the technology segment. Teachers from the Mancheng Youth Science and Technology Center brought a blue whale robot as a special “guest” to interact with the children, eliciting bursts of laughter. A fleet of DJI drones took to the sky, creating beautiful patterns; the Mecha Master made a stunning appearance, adding a high-tech vibe that elevated the atmosphere to a climax. The children watched with wide, curious eyes, frequently gasping and applauding.
At the event, parents eagerly raised their phones to capture the exciting moments. One parent remarked, “I never expected the traditional calligraphy ceremony could be so innovative and fun. The children not only absorbed traditional cultural values but also experienced the power of technology, which is particularly meaningful.”
