On June 12, a unique safety education class at Hangzhou Binjiang Experimental Primary School attracted everyone’s attention. The police humanoid robot “Bin Xiaoxin,” developed jointly by the Binjiang District Branch of the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau and the Hangzhou Research Institute of Beihang University, transformed into a technological assistant, collaborating with teachers and community police to provide fourth-grade students with an immersive smart safety experience centered around campus safety, anti-fraud, and summer protection.
In the classroom, “Bin Xiaoxin” quickly became the focus of the students with its smooth body movements and clear voice interaction capabilities. This special “assistant” humorously and vividly transformed safety knowledge into engaging content, instantly answering students’ questions through big data analysis, rapidly becoming the center of attention.
Vice Principal Lv Wentao of Hangzhou Binjiang Experimental Primary School, observing the bright eyes of the children, remarked: “The police officers in uniform, demonstrating standard police posture, inherently reinforce the authority of the law and the awareness of safety in the students’ minds; while the deep interaction with the intelligent robot significantly enhances students’ sense of participation and experience, making safety knowledge easier to internalize and transform into conscious daily behavior, effectively promoting the healthy growth of students.”
During the event, the safety knowledge quiz segment led by the robot officer “Bin Xiaoxin” brought the class to a climax, with children eagerly raising their hands to answer. “The deep involvement of the robot officer significantly enhanced the sense of participation and knowledge retention in the classroom. ‘Bin Xiaoxin’ is like a lively friend who understands safety; the children truly absorbed the awareness of prevention, which is the charm of technology’s ‘zero-distance’ release,” the classroom teacher expressed.
When the class bell rang, many children surrounded “Bin Xiaoxin,” reluctant to leave. “The robot teacher is amazing! It knows so much; I wish it could come more often! I want to study how it thinks!” A little girl’s words echoed everyone’s thoughts. Watching the children chase after the police officers discussing when the robot would come again, we can’t help but look forward to: when the warmth of technology meets the original intention of education, such safety education is weaving a smarter protective net for children’s growth. The seeds of technological thinking have quietly sprouted in the hearts of the children.
A relevant person in charge of the Binjiang District Public Security Bureau stated that this attempt is just the beginning. Currently, the Binjiang District Public Security Bureau is collaborating with the Binjiang District Education Bureau to develop a systematic AI safety curriculum, and in the future, they will establish a “smart safety classroom” that integrates safety education into daily life through regular robot lectures and AI scenario simulations. “We not only want children to remember knowledge but also to cultivate their safety instincts,” the person in charge emphasized.
Next, the Binjiang District Public Security Bureau will continue to deepen the application exploration of humanoid robots in various scenarios such as legal publicity, anti-fraud warnings, and campus security, continuously enhancing the capability level of technology support for practical combat and serving people’s livelihoods, and further strengthening close cooperation with the education system to inject more solid “intelligent” power into the promotion of higher-level social governance modernization.
