Baio Huaxing has recently launched the MultiTrait BSA service, which utilizes bioinformatics and genotype-driven pooled reconstruction to simultaneously locate multiple traits from the same genotype dataset. Compared to traditional BSA, this method is cost-effective and has a shorter cycle, allowing breeders to quickly identify key genes for multiple agronomic traits, providing a continuous and efficient technical driving force for molecular breeding.

Workflow Comparison

Traditional BSA constructs mixed pools based on extreme values of a single trait phenotype, followed by sequencing and comparative analysis, making it suitable only for single traits. In contrast, MultiTrait BSA adopts a “genotype-driven” process: first, individuals with the greatest genetic background differences are selected for separate sequencing based on whole-genome SNP data (e.g., PCA analysis). After obtaining the data, computer virtual pooled reconstruction and analysis can be flexibly performed based on any target trait, making it applicable to multiple traits.
