Recently, at the invitation of the School of Foreign Languages, the library brought “Digital Resources Supporting Translation Research and Teaching” into the “Introduction to Translation” class. This is the first session of a new model of library literature resource integration into undergraduate professional course teaching, jointly developed by the library and the Academic Affairs Office, aimed at deepening the understanding of library resources among faculty and students of the School of Foreign Languages, enhancing their information retrieval and academic research capabilities, and providing solid resource support for the “Introduction to Translation” course.

Library Embedded Course Introduced to the School of Foreign Languages

During the lecture, library staff systematically introduced the physical resources in our university library, various Chinese and foreign electronic resources that have been subscribed to, especially databases closely related to language, literature, and translation research. They focused on demonstrating advanced search strategies in CNKI, keyword filtering, literature export, and analysis methods, helping faculty and students efficiently access high-quality Chinese academic literature. Additionally, in response to the needs of translation research from an international perspective, they provided detailed explanations of the usage techniques for the Web of Science Core Collection, including filtering high-impact papers and journals by research direction, and utilizing citation reports to track academic frontiers and other practical functions.

Teachers of the “Introduction to Translation” course at the School of Foreign Languages stated that this type of embedded course information service model is highly targeted, effectively addressing students’ pain points of “not being able to find or use” materials in thesis writing and specialized research, and enhancing their confidence and interest in conducting academic research.

This lecture is another proactive practice by the library to align with the needs of the college and deepen service in teaching and research. In the future, the library will continue to expand cooperation with various colleges, promoting information literacy education to better integrate into the professional curriculum system, providing ongoing support for talent cultivation and scientific research at the university.
