ICC Ice Crown Citadel No Penalty Strategy: The Truth We Learned After Being Defeated 8 Times!

ICC Ice Crown Citadel No Penalty Strategy: The Truth We Learned After Being Defeated 8 Times!

In this quick guide to ICC, all the brothers who are starting out should understand that the “Council” and “Queen” bosses are definitely a litmus test for team coordination. Especially with the Council’s three kings sharing a health bar, if you’re not careful, it can lead to an awkward situation where “damage doesn’t reduce health.” Today, based on practical experience, I will outline the core mechanics of these two bosses to help teams avoid unnecessary detours.

“Council” BOSS

Characteristics and Basic Mechanics

This is a council-type boss, with the three kings sharing a health bar. Only the activated boss takes effective damage, and when activated, it has a health bar, so be careful not to hit the wrong target.

Specific Mechanisms and Strategies for Each King

  • Wind King:
    • Activation: After activation, it will periodically use the Shockwave skill, and the entire team needs to spread out 12 yards. If melee players meet the spread condition, they can appropriately stand still.
    • White Ball Handling: Divide the area into three sections, assigning hunters or warlocks to each. When the white ball is about to land, let their pets attack; if the pet is under the white ball, it can bite just before landing to prevent the white ball from exploding and wiping the team.
  • Dark King DKT Tanking:
    • Black Ball Handling: Black balls will spawn on the field, and DKT should use Ice Touch to pull the black balls for shadow damage reduction, as the shadow sword damage is high when activating the Dark King. Others should not attack the black balls.
    • OT Situation: When fighting this king, pay attention to the threat list, as OT can be instantly “one-shot”.
  • Fire King:
    • Fire Dot Handling: The Fire King will apply a large fire damage dot to a direction of teammates; except for healers, retribution paladins, and protection paladins, other members need to help dispel each round.
    • Energy Ball Handling: The Fire King will target a ranged player to charge a super fire energy ball that tracks them. The targeted player should use rocket boots to dash away, allowing the fireball to hit more teammates to consume energy, and when it shrinks, let it hit themselves.

Differences Between Normal and Heroic Modes

In Heroic mode, the Dark King has a cage skill, and the impact of the white ball landing and the Fire King’s energy ball is greater. This boss has a difficulty rating of three stars in Heroic mode and two stars in Normal mode for large group snowballing.

“Queen” BOSS

Basic Mechanics

The Queen boss requires a 2T4 – 5 healing configuration, making team DPS critical. When 4 or 8 players are bitten, the boss enters the corresponding phase, with both landing and flying phases (DPS and healing phases).

Specific Mechanisms and Strategies

  • Connection Mechanism: Every 30 seconds, the raid boss will target 3 players to connect. The connected players must quickly gather in the middle to dispel the connection, or it will wipe the team. Knights can be arranged to scout, and shadow resistance shields may randomly eliminate one player.
  • Fire and Biting Mechanism: The Queen boss continuously spawns purple flames under her feet, and players need to run to the edge of the field while keeping moving, avoiding rocket boots. A few seconds after the fight starts, the boss will bite the player in the third position on the threat list. After being bitten, DPS doubles and heals, lasting for one minute. After the time is up, they need to be bitten again within 10 seconds. Other players can use follow techniques to bite teammates who are about to be bitten again, paying attention to the bitten player’s health. The first bitten player needs to operate within the remaining 2 – 4 seconds to avoid the boss’s ascension time.

Differences Between Normal and Heroic Modes

In Heroic mode, the more players bitten in the group, the higher the DPS shadow damage aura. Heroic mode has penalty points, such as not biting anyone within 10 seconds, making the overall difficulty three stars.

The mechanics of these bosses in the ICC instance are unique, and players need to master counter-strategies. Whether in Normal or Heroic mode, avoid mistakes to clear the instance.Recently, our guild has been tackling these two bosses. If any brothers have different insights on the mechanics, feel free to share your practical experiences in the comments! (As usual, please like and save this post.)
