Today the Icecrown Citadel (ICC) officially launched. Today, let’s discuss how to defeat the Green Dragon Boss. Remember the mantra: Hold the line outside, drink fiercely inside, and take it down with a bloodlust wave!
Green Dragon Boss Configuration and Inside Strategy
Configuration Requirements
- The standard configuration for the Green Dragon requires 3 tanks and 5-6 healers. Inside, players must consume the full orbs and activate bloodlust immediately after entering.
Specific Strategy
- At the start of the battle, quickly eliminate the four liches, then have the mages apply magic buffs to the Green Dragon.
- Assign two healing paladins and one shaman to the inside. The task inside is to fully heal the Green Dragon to defeat the boss. However, while healing the Green Dragon, four large doors will continuously spawn small monsters.
- Hunters can capture a gorilla and select the Blood of the Rhino talent, placing the gorilla next to the Green Dragon. The healing paladins will use the marker to heal the Green Dragon while targeting the gorilla, relying on talents and Holy Light to increase healing output. Meanwhile, the Holy Priest should cast Angel on the Green Dragon, and the healing paladins should unleash all their skills outside to drain the boss’s mana. At this point, the doors to the inside will refresh, and upon entering, players can fly to consume green orbs to regain mana and enhance healing output, aiming to consume as many orbs as possible each time. If orb consumption is not proficient, players can follow the healing shaman to consume orbs, as the shaman can use totems to absorb orbs, and nearby teammates will also benefit from the orb explosion. Each time entering, players can gain 5 to 8 layers of buffs. When exiting, be careful not to fly too high to avoid falling damage.
Outside Monsters and Response Strategies
Types of Outside Monsters and Kill Order
Outside, five types of monsters will spawn: Fire Skeletons, Enforcers, Liches, Cripples, and Fat Ones. The kill order is: prioritize Fire Skeletons, followed by Enforcers, Liches, Cripples, and Fat Ones.
Key Points for Each Monster
- Protection Paladin Tasks: The outside protection paladin is mainly responsible for pulling the Fat Ones and assisting with the Liches. Be aware that the Fat Ones and Liches can be stunned, and the Fat Ones will spray dirt from the front, so when pulling monsters, face away from the group. After the Fat Ones die, they will spawn maggots, and a druid can blow them away to prevent them from entering the group.
- Lich Response: Liches cast a group Ice Bolt that needs to be interrupted. If they target you, their attack damage is high, and if you can’t pull them in time, the retribution paladin can use Hammer of Justice to stun them.
- Handling Cripples: Cripples can be pulled to a specific location by a Death Knight (as shown in the video) for elimination. After applying DOT, send in a hunter to finish them off.
- Enforcer Strategy: Each time healing is transmitted from the inside to the outside, prioritize killing the Enforcer, as they will cast spells that reduce the boss’s healing received, and the effect can stack.
Differences Between Normal and Heroic Difficulty and Combat Cycle
Difficulty Differences
In normal difficulty, the inside buff orbs can be refreshed indefinitely, and the boss does not continuously lose health due to the inside orbs; in heroic difficulty, the buff from the inside orbs causes continuous health loss.
Combat Cycle
Healers will continuously cycle between entering to consume orbs and exiting to heal the boss, while monitoring the boss’s health and their own buff layers. During the final exit, unleash all power to rush, with all healers focusing on the Green Dragon. Outside, only deal with the Enforcer and Fire Skeleton; if other monsters are killed, kite them instead. If the buff from holding orbs continues, after 3-4 entries inside, healers can exit to bloodlust, leading to the final wave to defeat the boss.
Overall, this boss is rated two stars in normal difficulty, and with skilled healing paladins, it can be managed quite easily.
