    According to news from “China Optics Valley”, the first domestic wafer service platform based on a 12-inch 40nm CMOS process line, featuring a fully localized silicon photonic PDK (Process Design Kit), TDK (Test Design Kit), and ADK (Assembly Design Kit), has officially been launched in Optics Valley. This platform is operated by the National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center (NOEIC) and marks another key breakthrough for enterprises in Optics Valley in the field of silicon photonics. The National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center was jointly established by companies including LightSpeed Technology (37.5% stake), FiberHome (18.75%), Hengtong Optic-Electric (12.5%), Tianfu Communication (6.25%), and GD Infrared (6.25%).

  • Significant Progress in China’s Largest “Artificial Sun” Project

    On November 10, the Southwest Institute of Physics (referred to as West Institute) reported that the world’s largest “artificial sun” International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Langmuir probe system, independently developed by the institute, recently passed the final design review of key core technologies and processes, including the probe body, power supply system, and instrumentation equipment, at the ITER organization headquarters in France. This marks a significant advancement in China’s development of key diagnostic systems for the ITER project, laying a solid foundation for subsequent system manufacturing and overall delivery. The Langmuir probe is an important diagnostic component on the ITER divertor, which will operate under high thermal load conditions, primarily used to measure key parameters such as temperature and density of the plasma near the divertor target plate, providing critical data support for the operation and optimization of the ITER device. The Langmuir probe project undertaken by China is entirely completed by the West Institute, and the project products will be installed in the divertor positions of sectors 2, 10, and 14 of the device.
