On June 11, Blizzard has yet to announce the opening time for HICC, so our HICC strategy will be temporarily paused. Let’s first share a detailed strategy for some of the achievements related to the 10-person achievement dragon, with a simplified guide available in the complete strategy for the 10-person Icecrown Citadel achievement dragon. Since some achievements are very simple, I will not introduce them here, focusing instead on a selection of achievements that I find somewhat challenging. Today, we will share the method for the achievement “Gathering Together”.1. Achievement Requirements. The requirement is simple: defeat Lady Deathwhisper while bringing 5 different types of minions.
2. Core Difficulty. The challenge lies in gathering 5 different types of minions, which can be difficult for those without achievement tracking. To help everyone identify them, we will first introduce the types of minions that may appear in this battle.In the 10-person encounter with Lady Deathwhisper, she summons 3 minions each time. In odd waves (1st, 3rd, 5th), the minions consist of two physical minions and one magic minion, coming from the left; in even waves (2nd, 4th, 6th), there are two magic minions and one physical minion, coming from the right. We refer to the initially summoned minions as basic minions, which include basic physical minions (Cult Fanatics) and basic magic minions (Cultists). They are easy to distinguish: one is a humanoid in plate armor, and the other is a humanoid in cloth armor.
During the battle, the BOSS will randomly target minions to grant them enhancement effects. There are two types of enhancement effects: the first type causes the minion to become a skeleton, falling to the ground for a moment before getting back up. We refer to these as skeleton-type minions, which include skeleton-type magic minions and skeleton-type physical minions. They are also easy to distinguish: the skeleton-type magic minion is a bony figure holding a staff (still called Cultist), while the skeleton-type physical minion is a bony figure holding an axe (still called Cult Fanatic).
The second type of enhancement is a bit harder to describe. The physical minion is easy to distinguish; when targeted by the BOSS, it will become a limping figure, resembling the limping character that hunters kite during the green dragon fight (I won’t include a picture of the limping figure). However, the magic minion does not show any visible difference when enhanced; it is still called Cultist, and the only difference is that it gains a buff (the first buff in the image below, with a slight blue glow around the minion), making it hard to identify.
Additionally, Lady Deathwhisper may have an ICC weekly quest, but the minions from the weekly quest do not count towards the 5 types of minions required for the achievement.3. Battle Process.Since we need to gather many minions, especially the magic minions, which deal significant AOE damage when enhanced, the pressure on healers will be considerable. Therefore, it is recommended to use a two-tank, three-nature (T3N) composition, and also ensure that there is at least one physical and one magic DPS. When we attempted this, we struggled because we didn’t have a pure physical DPS to deal with the magic-immune minions.The recommended battle process is: the protection paladin should pull the first wave of minions, and the DPS should reduce the BOSS’s health to 10% and then stop, waiting for the death knight tank to pull the second wave of minions. At this point, observe the enhancement status of the 6 minions on the field. If there are already 5 different types of minions, the protection paladin should use Divine Protection on the death knight tank, gather all 6 minions, and let the death knight tank engage the BOSS, directly using Heroism to push into Phase 2 and defeat the BOSS.In actual combat, it is best to have an achievement tracking addon or WeakAuras (WA), as distinguishing by the naked eye can be somewhat challenging. When we were doing it, we didn’t encounter any limping figures and only realized we had 5 types of minions when the third wave appeared.
