NXP Semiconductors, formerly Philips Semiconductors, was founded in 1953 by Philips in the Netherlands and became independent from Philips in 2006. It is headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and is a major global semiconductor company.

Its core business is providing semiconductors, system solutions, and software, with products widely used in automotive electronics, mobile phones, smart identification, televisions, set-top boxes, and other electronic devices, focusing on markets such as smart identification, automotive electronics, and home entertainment.

During its development, in 2015, it acquired Freescale for approximately $16.7 billion (including debt), becoming a leader in the automotive and industrial semiconductor markets; from 2016 to 2018, Qualcomm planned to acquire NXP but ultimately abandoned the plan due to lack of approval from Chinese regulators, paying NXP a $2 billion breakup fee; in 2019, it acquired the wireless connectivity business of Marvell Technology for $1.76 billion.

In 2022, NXP reported an EBITDA of $3.797 billion and a net profit of $2.787 billion, holding significant influence in the global semiconductor supply chain, especially in the automotive electronics sector.
