Application of Sensor Technology in Smart Streetlight Monitoring Systems

As China’s industrialization matures and the intelligent upgrading of electrical equipment deepens, the operation of street lighting is gradually shifting towards an intelligent and energy-saving business model. The intelligent operation and monitoring management of streetlight poles and electrical devices mounted on them is a crucial aspect of this upgrade.

In practical use, when a streetlight pole tilts due to vehicle collisions or other reasons, if not addressed promptly, it may affect traffic flow and lead to accidents. In some cases, the tilt of the pole may not be obvious, making it difficult for conventional visual inspections to detect these issues in a timely manner. These hidden faults can lead to sudden failures after prolonged operation, leaving users unable to take preventive measures and only able to respond after a failure occurs, creating potential traffic hazards.

The angle detection module, installed on the streetlight pole, is used to detect the real-time angle of the pole;

The control module, connected to the angle detection module, is used to:

Determine whether the pole is in a tilted state based on the real-time angle;

Generate different categories of detection data based on whether the pole is tilted;

Output the detection data to a cloud platform, where the platform determines whether to issue a fault alert based on the analysis results of the detection data.

If the difference between the real-time angle and the reference angle is greater than or equal to a preset angle threshold, the pole is determined to be in a tilted state;

Thus, real-time monitoring of the tilt angle becomes the most basic requirement of this solution. Senser Technology recommends using the dual-axis high-precision tilt sensor T220.
