Temperature Sensor Failure Troubleshooting
【Function and Role of Wall-Mounted Boiler Temperature Sensors】
The temperature sensor is generally located on the inlet pipe and at the outlet of the heat exchanger, detecting the water temperature and transmitting it to the control board to display the temperature and maintain a constant temperature.
【Phenomenon Analysis】
The actual water temperature differs significantly from the displayed temperature, or a fault code is reported, indicating a temperature sensor failure. This is caused by corrosion, aging, or deformation over time.
【Detection Methods】
1. The temperature sensor is generally located on the pipeline adjacent to the water heater tank and has a round head shape. The resistance value measured with a multimeter at room temperature is typically 10K to 50K. If the resistance is below 100 ohms or above 500K, it can be determined to be damaged.2. Check if the connectors of the inlet and outlet temperature sensors are loose, disconnected, or corroded.3. Use substitution method for testing.
【Repair Methods】
1. Turn off the water and power.
2. Remove the original temperature sensor.
3. Replace it with a sensor of the same shape and type. If there is a significant temperature difference, check the original model’s resistance value and replace it with one of the same resistance value.
4. If the sensor is damaged and its resistance value is unknown, substitution method can be used for testing.
