When Elementary School “AI Newbies”
Meet University Laboratories
Under the early summer sun, the campus of Lianjiang Experimental Primary School is filled with eager anticipation. On the afternoon of June 11, 2025, the teachers and students of the artificial intelligence experimental class were invited to visit Fuzhou University of Technology to learn and experience artificial intelligence and technological innovation up close, embarking on a journey of technological exploration filled with fun and knowledge.
Immersive Technology Experience
Smart cars, airplanes, and other technological exhibits amazed everyone
Led by volunteers from Fuzhou University of Technology, the students first visited the artificial intelligence laboratory. Upon entering the lab, various high-tech devices immediately caught everyone’s attention.
The smart car area was equally lively, with students gathered by the racetrack, watching as volunteers skillfully controlled the cars to complete obstacle avoidance and racing tasks, often exclaiming in admiration.
In the airplane experience area, the volunteer teacher controlled the airplane to take off, while students wore drone flight goggles, looking down at the ground from the “eyes” of the drone, as if they were in the air, eliciting cheers.
The dazzling array of technological exhibits opened the students’ eyes, and they eagerly tried to experience the charm of technology firsthand.

Exploring Arduino Programming, Igniting the Spark of Creativity
Next, the volunteers from Fuzhou University of Technology brought the students a lively introductory lesson on artificial intelligence. The course, themed “Introduction to Arduino Development,” introduced basic hardware such as the UNO development board, sensors, and actuators in simple and understandable language, and briefly explained how to achieve simple control using functions like setup(), loop(), and pinMode().
The students listened attentively, their eyes sparkling with the light of curiosity. The volunteers also encouraged everyone to use their imagination and try to design their own smart creations in the future, prompting many students to roll up their sleeves, eager to get hands-on experience.
Exclusive 3D Printed Gifts
The Warmth and Surprise of Technology
In the final segment of the event, the students were greeted with a special surprise—personalized 3D printing experience. The volunteers from the university had prepared exclusive 3D printed name tags for each student in advance and demonstrated the printing process on-site. Watching the machine “weave” three-dimensional objects layer by layer, the students were amazed, with some even squatting beside the printer, intently observing the details. “This is the first time I’ve received a 3D printed gift; I want to take it home and treasure it!” one student exclaimed, holding up their name tag happily.

Planting the Seeds of Technology
The half-day research and study activity concluded amidst laughter and joy. On the way back, the students were still reluctant to leave, enthusiastically discussing what they had seen and learned that day. This event not only broadened the students’ technological horizons but also sparked their interest in artificial intelligence, and it is believed that today’s experiences will plant the seeds of exploration for the future in their hearts.
