Recently, the STM32Cube ecosystem underwent a “major update,” with STM32CubeMX upgraded to V6.0.0, STM32CubeIDE upgraded to V1.4.0, and STM32CubeProg upgraded to V2.5.0. I remember I even posted about this in my Moments (friends who have my WeChat should have seen it).

STMicroelectronics’ STM32Cube® software development ecosystem has released software updates that make it easier for users to filter software examples, collect and use development tools, and customize, use, and share STM32Cube extension packages.
This update introduces some new elements, making the STM32Cube ecosystem more complete.
These updates bring new enhanced features to the MCU configuration and project setup tools (STM32CubeMX version 6.0) and STM32CubeIDE v1.4 multi-OS C/C++ development platform. Now, both tools can directly access the latest STM32Cube MCU software packages and extension packages, which include the software required to run STM32® microcontrollers and peripherals, as well as external components such as sensors or communication interfaces. Moreover, users can now choose any of the numerous software examples to start project development, while easily viewing software examples through both tools.
The STM32Cube MCU package is a software package dedicated to specific microcontrollers and product series, making it convenient for developers to utilize the microcontroller’s features and peripherals. The software includes peripheral drivers, middleware, examples, and board support packages (BSP). The STM32Cube extension package is software developed by STMicroelectronics or third parties, allowing developers to flexibly add new features such as board support packages or middleware to the software package while maintaining the integrity of the STM32Cube ecosystem.
This update introduces a powerful new tool called STM32PackCreator in STM32CubeMX 6.0, which allows users to create and share their developed STM32Cube extension packages. STM32PackCreator guides users through the entire process of developing extension packages and helps ensure that the newly developed extension packages can be opened and configured in both STM32CubeMX and STM32CubeIDE tools.
Now, STM32CubeMX 6.0 can also help users find all available development tools within the STM32Cube ecosystem, as well as other design tools from STMicroelectronics, such as the graphical interface STM32 microcontroller and MEMS sensor algorithm design tool AlgoBuilder, and the motor control development tool ST-MC-SUITE. Additionally, users can launch both STM32PackCreator and eDesignSuite software from STM32CubeMX 6.0, facilitating the design of relevant system functions, including signal conditioning circuits, power conversion, and RF circuits.
STM32CubeMX 6.0 offers a series of short video tutorials to help users make the most of the tool and learn more about the new features in detail.
