Recently, the touchscreen in the driver’s cabin of the coking plant’s second dry quenching hoist suddenly became unresponsive, leading to limitations in equipment positioning and the inability to view operational parameters, which constrained production operations and system safety. The PLC team from the electrical company’s automation department responded quickly, organizing technical personnel to the site for troubleshooting. Initial diagnosis indicated that the screen displayed normally, but the touch function was inoperative, hindering regular operations. The manufacturer was contacted, and it was reported that replacement parts were needed.
Faced with this unexpected situation, the PLC team took a different approach, attempting to download the equipment manual and technical documentation from the internet for research. After several rounds of attempts, they ultimately found a solution: by enabling the “Use USB Input Device” feature, they successfully operated the system using an external mouse. This method was tested and proved to be stable and reliable, effectively restoring the touchscreen functionality.
It is reported that after comprehensive debugging, the screen has been officially delivered for use in the production workshop. Currently, the equipment communication is stable, and operations are normal. This repair did not require any replacement parts; instead, functionality was restored through technical problem-solving, directly saving costs of 35,000 yuan. This truly reflects the concept of “solving problems through innovation and promoting efficiency through technology,” providing a practical case worth promoting for the company’s cost reduction and efficiency enhancement efforts.
