Every week, Sijie’s parents write a letter to Sijie.
Letter 33 to Sijie

Regarding your programming learning path, we initially considered whether to continue deepening your study of Python or switch to C++? After several discussions with your programming teacher, we finally decided to take C++ as the next learning direction. Since we decided to learn C++, getting a computer became a priority—along with it came the purchase of a computer desk, wireless router, small speakers, and other supporting equipment, as well as system installation, which was a bit of a winding process.
Speaking of the installation of the computer desk, when the new desk arrived home, you were the first to try assembling it, but you couldn’t get it done because the screws wouldn’t fit. The next morning, when your dad checked, he found that a few holes on the desk board were slightly misaligned, causing the screws not to align properly, which is why it couldn’t be assembled. He made a simple adjustment to the holes, and the computer desk was successfully assembled. From this incident, we want to tell you: when encountering difficulties, we should not rush to give up, but rather stop to observe, think, and try to solve the problem; often, the issues are not as complex as they seem. Many seemingly tricky problems can be resolved by thinking of various solutions and trying hands-on.

After assembling the computer desk, the next step was to install the system. Although it was a bit late last Saturday night, your dad stayed with you to complete the installation and setup of the computer system step by step. He wanted you to see the entire installation process and understand how the system should be configured and how to connect to the network. That night, we also want to thank you for reminding your dad during the wireless WiFi connection phase, which ultimately led to a successful network connection and the installation of all necessary software.
We look forward to you making steady progress in your C++ studies. We know you have a strong interest in programming, and this passion is the best motivation. So we want to say to you: keep going, explore bravely! At the same time, in terms of learning methods, your dad hopes you won’t limit yourself to what is taught in class—class content is relatively basic, and with your abilities and potential, you can definitely explore deeper and broader fields. He suggests that you consider selecting another C++ textbook for self-study to accelerate your progress and deepen your understanding, truly mastering the knowledge. Continuously deepen your knowledge base and unlock more possibilities in the world of programming.
