In recent years, Mexico has seen a revival in railway investment, planning to inject substantial funds into urban rail transit construction by 2025. The new virtual rail transit technologies ART (Autonomous Rail Transit) and DRT (Digital Rail Transit) are challenging traditional urban rail transit systems.
This technology is an innovative transport solution that combines virtual tracks with autonomous driving, offering advantages such as low construction costs, operational flexibility, and environmental efficiency.
This technology is promoted by CRRC and has been piloted in cities like Monterrey, Mexico. Compared to traditional subways or light rails, the construction costs for ART/DRT are significantly lower and better meet the demands of urban expansion.
As technology matures and policy support increases, ART/DRT is expected to play a significant role in Mexico’s urban rail transit market. In the future, urban transportation construction in Mexico will focus more on innovation and sustainable development. The introduction of new technologies not only brings new opportunities to the market but also drives the transformation and upgrading of traditional railway projects.
