The collaborative robot supplier Neuromeka announced that it has successfully established an AI-based collaborative robot welding training system specifically for the shipbuilding industry at HD Hyundai Samho, which officially commenced operation on June 19.

This training system was created through the “Foundation Industry Professional Comprehensive Support Project” by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, under the “AI Robot On-Site Demonstration Education Center”. Neuromeka was selected as the winning bidder in the proposal evaluation conducted in December 2024 and signed a contract worth 640 million KRW (approximately 3.3792 million RMB).
According to reports, the newly established training center is a core infrastructure supporting HD Hyundai Samho’s strategy of an “AI-based smart shipyard”, aimed at cultivating practical talents focused on welding automation technology using collaborative robots. Neuromeka integrates its flagship collaborative robot “Indy”, the welding collaborative robot “OPTi”, customized welding systems, and various training equipment into the curriculum in a manner similar to actual on-site processes, maximizing training effectiveness..
The training center aims to go beyond simple theoretical education by cultivating practical skills through scenario-based practices that simulate the actual working environment of a shipyard. Additionally, the center has introduced a virtual reality (VR)-based “Vive” intuitive operating system to help non-professionals easily operate collaborative robots, greatly increasing on-site applicability and the potential for technology dissemination.
Through this project, Neuromeka has launched a collaborative robot solution specifically for welding automation education, further expanding the application field of robotic automation technology. Based on years of accumulated robotic technology and on-site experience, the company plans to strengthen its competitiveness in domestic and international markets and continuously promote technological innovation in the field of smart manufacturing..
