German Automotive Companies Urgently Seek Export Exemptions from China as Nexperia Chip Export Restrictions Show Signs of Improvement

Export restrictions on Nexperia semiconductor chips are showing signs of improvement, as major German automotive parts suppliers are actively applying for export exemptions to China.

This supply chain crisis originated from the Dutch government’s internal intervention regarding Nexperia, which subsequently triggered export controls from China.

On November 1, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that it would comprehensively consider the actual circumstances of enterprises and grant exemptions for eligible exports to maintain the stability of the global industrial chain.

German parts giants including ZF, Bosch, and Aumovio have submitted applications. If chip supply continues to be disrupted, production at German factories of automakers like Volkswagen faces the risk of halting, and Bosch has also registered plans to place some employees on unpaid leave.

Currently, companies are concerned that the exemption application process may be quite complex, and the approval timeline remains unclear.
