In the fifth week of ICC, we completed the extreme achievement. The idea of achieving the dragon came to mind a long time ago (during the ULD phase), but we only started taking action in the fourth week of ICC. Last week, we completed all normal achievements except for the extreme one. Actually, we could have finished the extreme one in the fourth week, but we were worried that the Lich King achievement would be difficult and would delay our sleep time, so we only attempted the ice dragon once, and the Lich King achievement was completed on the first try… This week, we wasted over an hour on it. I suggest that those who want to achieve the dragon in the future should complete all normal achievements in one week. To be honest, only the extreme achievement is challenging. Without further ado, let’s get into the strategy.1. Achievement Requirements. The text description is very simple: defeat the ice dragon without anyone having more than 5 stacks of Arcane Barrage. It has been tested that achieving 5 stacks is also possible, as long as it does not exceed 6 stacks.Essential Guide to the Most Challenging Achievement in ICC: Extreme Achievement StrategyArcane Barrage is a debuff that the ice dragon applies after reaching 35% health in P2, increasing the magic damage taken. It can stack, and in 10-man normal mode, it is cast every 6 seconds and lasts for about 8 seconds (it shows 7 seconds when refreshed). The only way to remove this debuff is to hide behind the ice tomb released by the ice dragon in P2.2. Challenges. The challenge of this achievement lies in how the tank balances taking the BOSS and removing the debuff. Other healers and DPS can easily manage it; they just need to go to remove the debuff every time an ice tomb appears to ensure that the debuff does not exceed 5 stacks.Essential Guide to the Most Challenging Achievement in ICC: Extreme Achievement Strategy3. Combat Process and Key Points. When we tried last week, we used a 2T3N strategy, and it was tested that two tanks could fully handle both taking the BOSS and removing the debuff, but the margin for error was very low. If there was a quick or slow tank swap, one tank would definitely have their Arcane Barrage reach 6 stacks. So this week, we adopted a 3T2N strategy, with one tank as a substitute, which greatly increased the margin for error. The P1 strategy remains unchanged until the ice dragon reaches 35% health and enters P2. At this point, the ice dragon will start casting Arcane Barrage and ice tombs. The P1 tank is also the first tank in P2, which is a Death Knight tank. The ice dragon faces left, and we place the first ice tomb on the left. After the first ice tomb appears, everyone except the Death Knight tank goes to the ice tomb to remove the Arcane Barrage. The first ice tomb should be hit slowly, and after the second tank (originally planned to be a protection paladin, but since the paladin was caught in the ice tomb, we had to assign a bear tank) removes the stacks, they should taunt the ice dragon. The Death Knight tank goes to the first ice tomb to remove the Arcane Barrage, and after the Death Knight tank finishes, we can destroy the first ice tomb. After the bear tank has 3 stacks of Arcane Barrage, the protection paladin should taunt the ice dragon. After that, it’s basically a cycle of swapping tanks every 3 stacks, with the tank not taking the ice dragon going to remove the Arcane Barrage, ensuring that the stacks do not exceed 5. The placement of the ice tombs is the same as in the normal strategy: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right. For the ice tombs, we only assigned one retribution paladin to hit the ice tombs, which basically ensures that there is only one ice block on the field for everyone to remove the Arcane Barrage. If the retribution paladin gets frozen, then a mage will hit it. Essentially, only one strong DPS is enough to handle the ice block. The person hitting the ice tomb needs to be perceptive and able to see the number of Arcane Barrage stacks on the entire team, appropriately controlling the speed of hitting the ice tomb.During the battle, another point to note is that the healers must ensure that no one hit by the ice tomb dies from being crushed. If one person dies, there will be one less ice tomb, which can easily lead to the Arcane Barrage exceeding 5 stacks. Also, just like not doing the achievement, we need to avoid one ice tomb hitting multiple people, which would reduce DPS and make it impossible to defeat the BOSS.This is the method for achieving the most challenging extreme achievement in ICC.
