Development Program for Musical Dolls Using Microcontrollers

With the evolution of technology, the design and development of children’s toys have become increasingly diverse, leading to the emergence of sound-producing toy dolls, which are developed using microcontrollers, specifically the NY8A051F microcontroller.

This musical doll produces sound when pressed, and the sound can be programmed through the microcontroller to produce various sounds, including songs, animal noises, and natural sounds like water droplets.

The product is equipped with a replaceable button battery, and using a high-quality button battery can extend its lifespan to 3-5 years.

With a sound-producing doll, children at home have an added companion, and parents can purchase specific sound toys to cultivate their children’s interests from a young age, allowing for good development during their childhood.

Principle of Sound-Producing Toy Programs

The sound-producing doll is a toy characterized by interesting sounds, featuring rich sound interaction effects such as fun sound effects, musical tunes, and children’s songs and stories. It typically accompanies colorful flashing lights and other auxiliary effects such as touch, vibration, and springs.

The reason musical dolls can play sounds is due to an internal circuit board that contains a single chip capable of storing, controlling, and playing sound content.

The working principle of the microcontroller chip is to convert voice signals into digital signals through sampling and store them in the ROM of the IC, then recover the digital signals from the ROM back into voice signals through the circuit. Depending on the output method of the voice chip, there are two types: one is PWM output, and the other is DAC output. PWM output cannot continuously adjust the volume, thus cannot be connected to a standard power amplifier. Currently, most voice chips on the market operate in PWM output mode. The other is DAC, which is amplified by an internal equalizer. The sound from the voice chip is continuously adjustable and can be controlled digitally. It can be connected to an external power amplifier.

Single-Channel Sound-Producing Dolls

A single-channel sound-producing doll can only produce one sound at a time. The sound can be sound effects, human voices, or musical instruments. Toys with sound effects and human voices typically use the wav format, while the sound files for musical toys usually have only one channel. Representative toys of this type include dolls, gopher toys, and story machines.
