In my work, I often deal with touch screens. The one I use most frequently is Weilin, and this year I have also used several Siemens SMART touch screens. Here is a comparison from several aspects.
1. Price. For touch screens of the same size, such as 7 inches, Siemens does not have an advantage, and Weilin wins in this regard. This is a common issue that limits the product. Domestic 7 inch touch screens can be found for around 500 yuan from many brands. In contrast, the prices of Siemens, Omron, and others are relatively high.
2. Interface. Weilin uses a USB cable for long-distance downloads, which is easy to find on the market. When connecting to an Omron PLC, a homemade serial cable is used. There are a total of 2 lines on site, and the quality of the self-soldered lines should be noted. The Siemens smart 700ie uses a standard network cable, making uploads and downloads more convenient. When connecting to the Siemens 200smart PLC, it can be connected directly through the network port. Very convenient. Only one line is needed on site.Overall, I still think Siemens is more convenient in this regard.
3. Software Usage. Weilin uses the EB8000 software, while Siemens uses WINCC flexible. I do not have a good impression of Siemens software; the installation conditions are generally harsh, prone to installation failures, and take up a lot of space.In contrast, Weilin’s software is smaller and can effectively meet control requirements. Weilin software is easy to operate and quick to get started. If you have a background in wincc, the current Siemens software is manageable, otherwise, it requires some exploration, and many functions are not convenient to use. Weilin can conveniently display the current system time on the touch screen, while the Siemens model does not have system time and requires a program to read the PLC‘s system time and then display it on the touch screen, which increases the workload.In this aspect, I prefer Weilin.
