On October 9, Birun Technology, a startup specializing in general-purpose intelligent chips, officially began the tape-out of its first general-purpose GPU, the BR100, which is expected to be released to the market next year. This marks a significant breakthrough in the development of high-end general-purpose chips in China.
Industry analysts have noted that the performance parameters of Birun Technology’s first general-purpose GPU, the BR100, directly compete with the leading international products in the same category, making it the first truly internationally competitive general-purpose GPU in China. This will significantly enhance the self-sufficiency rate of high-end chips in China and help realize the dream of a self-reliant, secure, and controllable “Chinese chip”.
The BR100 general-purpose GPU delivered by Birun Technology boasts three major advantages: high computing power, high versatility, and high energy efficiency. It is manufactured using advanced 7-nanometer process technology and is entirely based on Birun Technology’s independently developed chip architecture, incorporating many of the latest chip design, manufacturing, and packaging technologies in the industry.
The series of general-purpose computing products powered by the Birun Technology BR100 chip primarily focus on various computing application scenarios such as artificial intelligence training and inference, general computing, etc. This will address the significant computing power gap brought about by the rapid development of AI applications and can be widely applied in fields such as smart cities, public cloud, big data analysis, autonomous driving, healthcare, life sciences, and cloud gaming.
