Today, the kindergarten’s middle class held a painting activity themed “Rock Climbing,” allowing children to express their understanding of this brave sport through their brushes.

The painting activity officially began. The teacher first introduced the sport of rock climbing to the children using vivid and interesting language: “Kids, today we are going to learn about a very exciting sport called rock climbing. Imagine a tall wall where people use their hands and feet, climbing up like little monkeys 🐒, their courage is like superheroes!”

Next, the teacher played an exciting rock climbing video, showcasing climbers skillfully climbing on rocks.

After the video, the teacher guided the children to observe the details of the climbing scenes. After a lively discussion, the children gained a clearer understanding of the climbing scenes, and their creative inspiration was fully ignited 😜. The teacher distributed drawing paper and pens to each child, saying, “Now, please draw the rock climbing scene in your heart and see who can make the most interesting drawing!”

The children eagerly picked up their brushes 🖌️ and began to create seriously. Suddenly, the classroom was filled with the sound of brushes scratching against paper. The teacher appreciated their works and provided encouragement and guidance.

During the painting process, each child’s work was filled with childlike fun and imagination, showcasing their unique world of rock climbing.

The painting activity was nearing its end. The teacher summarized the activity: “Today, everyone did a fantastic job! Each work has its own story. Through this activity, I saw everyone’s rich imagination. I hope you can discover more beauty in life and record it with your brushes!”

At the beginning of the activity, we introduced the various characteristics of stones to the children in a fun and engaging way, focusing on the hardness of stones and its role in making candle holders—protecting the table or floor from being stained by melted wax.

After the knowledge discussion, we selected some suitable stones, allowing the children to form groups and discuss how to arrange them beautifully while fulfilling their function. Soon, each child boldly expressed their ideas, suggesting stacking them high or placing them beside each other.

We officially entered the candle holder making phase. The children fully utilized their imagination and creativity, freely combining the stones they collected. Some children chose a large stone as the base and decorated it with smaller stones; others creatively arranged small stones into various patterns, such as flowers and stars, placing the large stone in the center for support. During this process, they learned from each other, helped one another, and sought advice from their peers and us when encountering problems.

After much effort, unique candle holders were finally completed. In the end, we carefully placed the candles on the holders, and at the moment the candles were lit, the warm glow illuminated the entire room and the children’s proud faces. The flickering candlelight and the exquisite candle holders created a warm and beautiful scene.

Through this candle holder making activity, the children not only gained a deeper understanding of the characteristics of stones but also developed various skills through hands-on practice. They fully expressed their imagination and creativity while freely arranging the stones, showcasing their unique aesthetic perspectives. Additionally, through interaction and cooperation with their peers, they cultivated teamwork spirit and communication skills.

On a sunny day, we embarked on a super fun stone exploration activity with the middle class children. This activity was like a wonderful time travel, introducing the children to the powerful roles stones played long ago, and we also made a super fun catapult!

At the beginning, the teacher took out many beautiful stones, and the children’s eyes lit up as they gathered around to take a look. The teacher opened a large picture book depicting primitive people using stones to make sharp spears for hunting and using stone axes to chop wood. The children listened intently, realizing that stones could become such powerful tools long ago!

Next, the teacher told the story of fire and stones. In the past, there were no lighters, and people would quickly bring home fire when they saw lightning burning trees. Later, they discovered that striking stones together could create sparks, leading to the invention of flint. The children found it fascinating and couldn’t help but mimic the action of striking stones with their little hands.

Then came the highly anticipated catapult making segment! The teacher distributed several colorful small sticks and many colorful rubber bands to each child. The teacher said, “Kids, we are going to make a super weapon that can launch small stones!” The children were very enthusiastic; some, with small strength, tried hard to wrap the rubber bands around the small sticks; others built their small sticks but kept falling over, yet they didn’t give up and tried again. Everyone helped each other, and soon, one by one, the small catapults were completed. Although they looked different, they were all particularly cute.

Finally, we could go outside to play with the catapults! The children took their homemade catapults, loaded them with small stones, and with a strong pull of their “little arms,” the stones flew out with a “whoosh.” Some children launched them far, jumping with joy; others didn’t launch as far, but they were still very happy watching their stones fly out. They even competed to see who could launch the farthest, laughter and cheers echoing across the playground.

At the end of this activity, the children were reluctant to leave. Through this fun activity, the children learned many secrets about stones and also learned to make catapults themselves. I believe these interesting experiences will plant seeds in the children’s hearts, making them increasingly eager to explore this big world!
