This may sound a bit exaggerated, but indeed, in 2024, when OLED screens are everywhere, it is incredibly difficult to find a decent new LCD smartphone. Major manufacturers believe that LCD is outdated, yet there is a group of people who are sensitive to PWM dimming and experience headaches when viewing OLED screens at night. Just when everyone thought LCD was going to be completely phased out, iQOO suddenly launched the Z10x, featuring a Dimensity 7300 processor, a 6500mAh battery, and an eye-friendly LCD screen, all for just over 700 yuan.
The specifications look quite absurd at first glance. The Dimensity 7300 chip can score over 700,000 on AnTuTu, which would have cost over 1500 yuan last year. A 6500mAh battery is something even some 2000 yuan devices are reluctant to offer. Not to mention the 6.72-inch LCD eye-care screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1050 nits, along with hardware DC dimming. With these specifications combined, it certainly does not seem to match the price of over 700 yuan.
First, let’s talk about performance. Although the Dimensity 7300 is not a flagship chip, it is relatively new. Built on a 4nm process, it features a combination of 4 large A78 cores and 4 small A55 cores, with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. It is more than sufficient for daily tasks like browsing Weibo, watching videos, and shopping on Taobao, and it can even maintain a stable 60 frames per second in high frame rate mode for games like “Honor of Kings.” While the 700,000 score may not match the Snapdragon 8 series, it truly represents a significant performance advantage compared to other devices in the same price range.
The key point is that this chip has excellent power consumption control, paired with the 6500mAh large battery, resulting in impressive battery life. Heavy usage can easily last a day and a half, while moderate usage can stretch to two days without issue. The 44W fast charging, while not the fastest, can fully charge this large battery in just an hour and a half, making it convenient to plug in before bed and wake up to a full charge.
Regarding the screen, this 6.72-inch LCD is indeed one of the few eye-friendly options available today. The hardware DC dimming means there is no PWM flicker, making it particularly friendly for those sensitive to light. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling, and the peak brightness of 1050 nits allows for clear visibility even in sunlight. Although the contrast and color saturation cannot match OLED, the relatively gentle display effect of LCD is indeed more comfortable for prolonged viewing.
As for photography, to be honest, don’t have high expectations at this price point. The main camera is 50 megapixels, which is sufficient for daily life documentation, but its performance in low light and detail is quite average. Fortunately, iQOO has not made photography a major selling point, as having a usable camera is sufficient for a device priced over 700 yuan.
In terms of design, the iQOO Z10x adopts a minimalist approach. The plastic back cover may not feel premium, but at least it does not leave fingerprints. The thickness is reasonable, especially considering the 6500mAh battery. Most importantly, this device supports NFC, which is quite rare in smartphones under 1000 yuan. It is very convenient for daily use, such as taking the subway or using access cards.
The stereo dual speakers are also a plus, providing significantly better sound quality than a single speaker when watching short videos. The IP64 dust and water resistance rating, while not high, is sufficient for everyday use.
Comparing it with competitors in the same price range, entry-level models from Redmi and Realme either have smaller batteries, inferior screens, or lack NFC. Honor’s budget models, while well-optimized, still fall short in battery capacity compared to this device. Vivo’s own Y series models are often priced 200-300 yuan higher.
If we must point out some shortcomings, this device does have a few. For instance, it does not support storage expansion, and the 128GB version may not be sufficient. The 3.5mm headphone jack has also been removed, which is not very friendly for wired headphone users. Additionally, the plastic body does feel somewhat cheap, but at this price point, we cannot expect too much.
Overall, the iQOO Z10x is indeed a rare eye-friendly LCD option this year. While the camera is average and the design is not particularly refined, these are not major issues at the price of over 700 yuan.
It is especially recommended for those sensitive to OLED screens, seeking long battery life, and with moderate usage needs. If you are looking for a backup phone or a durable device for elderly family members, the iQOO Z10x is indeed a good choice. However, if you have high photography requirements or feel that the plastic body is too cheap, it is better to save up for a more premium model.
