
On the morning of August 18, the 6th National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition Application Track National Finals successfully concluded after three days. The closing ceremony and award presentation were held at the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base.

This competition started in February this year,with the application track setting six topics: HiSilicon, Guanghetong, Qinheng, Loongson, STMicroelectronics, and Boliu, as well as the RT-Thread special application direction. The competition attracted 507 universities, 6107 teams, and 16,700 participants. During the competition period, 24 major competition seminars and 17 competition presentations were organized, along with a preparation period for works, and 33 training sessions and summer schools were held, with over 24,300 teachers and students participating. The competition established a high-level platform for multi-party communication and progress, enhancing students’ engineering practical abilities, bridging the gap with the industry, thus promoting the advancement of talent cultivation in schools and contributing to the development of China’s integrated circuit industry.

At the closing ceremony, Hong Jingyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electronics Society, Shilongxing, Chairman of the Competition Organizing Committee, Chief Professor at Southeast University, Director of the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center, and Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, Zhou Rong, Party Committee Member of the Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Innovation Park, Chairman of the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center, and Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, as well as representatives from universities, enterprises, and participating teams attended.

Hong Jingyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electronics Society, delivered a speech on behalf of the competition organizers, stating that for industrial development, talent is fundamental, especially for engineers in the embedded field who are familiar with both software and hardware systems. He hopes that students will strive to showcase, actively communicate, and learn while participating in this competition. The China Electronics Society, as one of the most influential academic organizations in the field of electronic information in China, has unique advantages in promoting academic exchanges, scientific popularization, technology competitions, talent cultivation, and technology evaluation. In the future, we hope to work hand in hand with everyone to promote technological innovation and industrial development in the field of electronic information in China, serving the economic development and social progress of the new era.

Shilongxing, Chairman of the Competition Organizing Committee, Chief Professor at Southeast University, Director of the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center, and Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizing committee. He first congratulated the winning teachers and students, thanked the China Electronics Society and Jiangbei New Area for their support, and expressed gratitude to everyone who worked hard for the competition. He stated that the competition closely follows national strategies, deeply exchanges around security and controllability, and is of great significance for cultivating compound talents who understand both hardware and software; the competition remains true to its original intention and perseveres, and based on the review and summary, it will continue to build a platform for industry-education integration, allowing enterprises to fully participate as question setters, answerers, and graders in engineering education. In the future, it will continue to play a platform role, linking the needs of universities and enterprises, conducting small thematic seminars to deeply discuss, exchange, and cooperate on talent cultivation for industry-education integration, industry-university-research cooperation, and achievement transformation, making the competition play a more effective role and normalizing specialized industry-education exchanges.

Zhou Rong, Party Committee Member of the Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Innovation Park, Chairman of the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center, and Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, stated that as the only national-level new area in the province, Jiangbei New Area has always focused on cultivating integrated circuits as an advanced manufacturing industry cluster and advantageous industrial chain, establishing an open platform for promoting industry-education integration in talent cultivation that connects government, industry, academia, research, and application at the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, creating service functions for talent training, professional competitions, and talent recruitment. As one of the national competitions, the embedded competition gathers innovative resources from across the country, hoping to further promote the development of the embedded industry, project aggregation, and talent optimization through the competition, enabling students to comprehensively master knowledge and skills related to chip design, hardware-software adaptation system optimization, and application solution design at different technical levels, providing a platform for all participants to engage in comprehensive, multi-level, and high-level technical exchanges and industrial cooperation, cultivating outstanding talents with innovative thinking, teamwork spirit, and the ability to solve complex engineering problems, and promoting high-quality industrial development.

During the event, the launch ceremony for the publication of the competition work case collection was also held. This project plans to rely on the competition platform to feed back excellent embedded works to teaching, promoting teaching through competition, and helping universities that aspire to improve the quality of practical teaching in electronic circuits, embedded systems, etc., to supplement and iterate teaching cases, thereby promoting the popularization of cutting-edge technology and ecological construction in the embedded field, practicing industry-education integration and collaborative education.

Outstanding Organization Award

Hong Jingyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electronics Society, announced the 22 participating units that received the Outstanding Organization Award.

This time, a total of 2346 teams submitted works nationwide, after six sub-regional preliminary and semi-final reviews, 1062 teams advanced to the sub-regional semi-finals, with 467 teams awarded first prize, 432 teams awarded second prize, and 901 teams awarded third prize in the sub-regional competitions, among which 467 teams that won the first prize in the sub-regional competitions advanced to the national finals. In the national finals, a total of 69 teams were awarded first prize, 137 teams second prize, and 251 teams third prize, including 2 teams for the Best Creative Award, 2 teams for the Best Engineering Award, and 9 teams for the Enterprise Cup Award.

Best Creative Award

Hong Jingyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electronics Society, awarded certificates and trophies to the 2 teams that won the Best Creative Award. The work “Distributed Earthquake Monitoring and Source Location System” from the Disaster Prevention Science and Technology Institute and the work “Smart Charging Pile” from Shaoyang College won the Best Creative Award in this competition.
Best Engineering Award

Shilongxing, Chairman of the Competition Organizing Committee, Chief Professor at Southeast University, Director of the Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center, and Nanjing Integrated Circuit Training Base, awarded certificates and trophies to the 2 teams that won the Best Engineering Award. The work “Smart Drying System” from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the work “Automated Measurement Platform for the Depth Parameters of the Hub Center Hole” from Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology won the Best Engineering Award in this competition.

⬆ The work “Intelligent Assessment System Based on Edge Computing” from Shenzhen Technology University won the Guanghetong 5G Smart Connection Cup Enterprise Special Award in this competition.

⬆ The work “Domestic Digital Oscilloscope” from Xiamen University won the Longson Zhongke Cup Enterprise Special Award in this competition.

⬆ The work “Intelligent Recording and Playback Integrated Machine Based on Voice Recognition” from Nanjing University of Science and Technology and the work “Smart Parking System” from Southeast University won the Qinheng RISC-V Cup Enterprise Special Award in this competition.

⬆ The work “Intelligent Fault Detection System for Drones Based on NanoEdgeAI” from Henan University and the work “Automated Measurement Platform for the Depth Parameters of the Hub Center Hole” from Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology won the STM32 Cup Enterprise Special Award in this competition.

Participating enterprise frontline workers and university teachers expressed that this event built a good platform for communication between schools and enterprises, greatly promoting students’ innovative practical abilities through the form of promoting teaching and learning through competition. They hope to strengthen this construction in the future and jointly contribute to the development of the embedded industry.
For participating students, the competition not only enables students to comprehensively master knowledge and skills related to hardware-software adaptation, system optimization, and application solution design at different technical levels but also helps students combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, fully understanding the current industrial demands. Through participation in the competition, participants transition from using embedded products today to developing embedded products in the future, injecting new momentum into the subsequent development of the entire industry during this transformation process.
