ROBOCON
2025

Opening Ceremony
On August 9, 2025, the 24th National University Robot Competition ROBOCON·Shenzhen was grandly opened! The Traveler Robot Team persevered in this competition, showcasing their skills, and their parallel quadruped robot won the championship in the simulated quadruped robot obstacle race, marking the team’s first championship in history! We also achieved the following results: First Prize in the National “Flying Slam Dunk” Robot Shooting Skills Competition, First Prize in the National “Flying Slam Dunk” Robot Dribbling Skills Competition, All-Around Award in the “Flying Slam Dunk” Robot Basketball Skills Competition, Second Prize in the National “Flying Slam Dunk” Robot Basketball Competition, two Second Prizes in the Simulated Quadruped Robot Racing Competition, First and Third Prizes in the Simulated Quadruped Robot Cross-Country Competition, and Second Prize in the Simulated Quadruped Robot Obstacle Race. In total, we achieved 10 national competition awards: 4 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 1 Third Prize, and 1 All-Around Award.
Let’s review this together with Xiao Xing!
Part.01
Main Track: “Flying Slam Dunk” Robot Basketball CompetitionPreliminary Round

The preliminary rounds held on August 8-9 saw R1 and R2 surpass themselves. Thanks to the efforts of several generations of the Traveler hardware team, our self-developed brushless drive made its debut on the field, achieving a shooting score of 212 points and a dribbling score of 29s, ranking second and seventh respectively among participating teams, and advancing to the top 16 with an overall score of second.
Group Stage

On the afternoon of the 10th, the group stage officially began. In the first round against the highly accurate shooting team from Southwest Jiaotong University, we actively defended and maintained stable offense. The scores alternated, and ultimately, due to a dribbling error from the opposing team, we defeated Southwest Jiaotong University with a score of 13:10, achieving a great start. In the subsequent matches, we narrowly lost to Liuzhou Institute of Technology due to a missed dribbling score from a penalty, but we secured a solid victory against Shenzhen University, finishing second in the group with two wins and one loss, advancing to the top eight.
Top Eight Matches

In the top eight matches on the 12th, we faced the so-called “Big Demon King” from the University of Electronic Science and Technology. We defended actively but were still torn apart by their speed. Ultimately, we achieved a top eight finish in the competition, and combined with our shooting and dribbling scores, we received the All-Around Award.
PART.02
Biomimetic Quadruped Robot
Obstacle Race
ROBOCON
2025

In last year’s International Biomimetic Quadruped Robot Invitational, we won third place. This year, we have comprehensively strengthened our mechanical and software/hardware, and the parallel robot has undergone several iterations. On the field, we remained calm under pressure, quickly adjusting our state when encountering obstacles, ultimately leading to a strong mechanical and hardware stability, allowing us to lead in both speed and the number of obstacles cleared, successfully winning the championship!
Racing Competition

ROCOBON
In the racing competition, both our parallel and series quadruped robots achieved national second prizes. Notably, this year we introduced a self-developed series quadruped robot based on our parallel quadruped robot, achieving a national second prize, marking a new challenge and attempt for us.
Cross-Country Race

The parallel robot performed excellently in the cross-country race, achieving first prize nationally with a fourth-place ranking, defeating many strong teams.

03Competition Related Introduction01-Event Introduction-
ROBOCON is an international university robot competition initiated by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). China has been hosting the National University Robot Competition ROBOCON since 2002, selecting champion teams to represent China in the Asia-Pacific University Robot Competition (ABU ROBOCON), which is a Class A competition for university students. This year’s ROBOCON is divided into the main track and the biomimetic quadruped challenge. The main track theme is “Flying Slam Dunk,” which includes skill challenge competitions (shooting and dribbling) and competitive matches; the biomimetic quadruped challenge consists of racing, obstacle, and cross-country races. Over 200 teams from more than 100 universities and over 4000 participants gathered in Jiangyin and Shenzhen. Although this year’s event was held in two locations, all RCers share the same passion, collectively bringing this technological competition to a perfect conclusion.

ROBOCON 2025
02-Affiliated College Introduction-
The College of Excellence Engineers (Innovation and Entrepreneurship College) is a newly established college at Dongguan University of Technology, implementing the training philosophy of “focusing on fundamentals, strengthening integration, enhancing practice, emphasizing application, and promoting comprehensive development.” It constructs a new learning ecology characterized by “engineering environment, project-based carriers, team guidance, and collaborative learning,” and focuses on promoting the integration of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education. Following the three principles of “engineering logic and industry demand-oriented, integration of production and education, and school-enterprise collaboration,” it aims to create a talent training system that aligns with the characteristics of outstanding engineers.
03-Laboratory Introduction-
The Traveler Robot Laboratory was established in October 2016 and is a robot laboratory under the College of Engineers at Dongguan University of Technology. It has a history of 10 years, growing from 7 members to over 40 members today.
The laboratory advocates interdisciplinary collaboration, aiming to participate in technological innovation practices, cultivate team members’ engineering practice abilities, and train a group of innovative, hands-on, collaborative, and hardworking technological talents. The Traveler Robot Laboratory currently mainly participates in the National University Robot Competition ROBOCON, achieving excellent results with multiple national first prizes! It has also received the Best Organization Award and Excellent Organization Award multiple times!
The Traveler Robot Team is also committed to building a good competition environment. In the 2022 season, the Traveler Robot Team co-hosted the ROBOCON Greater Bay Area competition with XbotPark in Dongguan Songshan Lake; in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the Traveler Robot Team led the establishment of a joint preparation base in Jiangsu·Jiangyin with over 40 universities to provide high-quality preparation for everyone!

In Conclusion
One minute on stage, ten years of hard work off stage.
At the 2025 ROBOCON, marking our tenth anniversary, we have put in effort and reaped rewards.
While results are important,
what matters more is
the experience gained from competing with strong teams and progressing together with comrades.
The glorious decade has come to a perfect conclusion.
What awaits us is the next glorious decade.
