Learning programming is so painful!!!!Is there a master to give some advice!!!I completely can’t solve this problem!!!Why is C++ so hard to get started?

If you are new to programming,
Are you feeling a bit confused?
Your initial passion
Suddenly overwhelmed by the difficulty of C++
Don’t worry, let Jike bring you back on track!
How much do you know about C++?
The positioning of C++ is
Internal mastery as the main focus
Skill training as a supplement

Learning C/C++ is about cultivating programming inner strength, while learning C#, JAVA, PHP, and Python is about external skill acquisition, which is visually appealing and thus favored by the audience. Don’t underestimate C/C++ just because there are fewer positions compared to higher-level languages; only by viewing the programming world and programming languages dialectically can you navigate the ocean of the intelligent world with ease.

Therefore, the main purpose of learning C++ is not to develop highly interactive application functions with C++, but to learn the programming concept of object-oriented programming, and its manifestation, which can then be quickly applied in other higher-level languages (such as: JAVA, PHP, JS).

To truly understand programming, C/C++ is a necessary path and also a guiding principle to revisit often. The more you learn, the more you realize the importance of low-level languages; thus, it is essential to review and refresh your knowledge, as each review deepens your understanding of the programming world, making the use of many languages feel natural, and learning becomes increasingly easier. One day, you will be able to simplify the knowledge system of C++ into a page or two and use it to guide the learning of other languages. Isn’t that the “Nine Yang Divine Skill” of the programming realm?

Learning C++ should not be perceived as overly complicated. Avoid confusing yourself or intimidating others with abstract data structures and complex algorithms. The programming world is indeed deep and fast-paced, so difficulty is inevitable. Thus, making programming sound difficult and scaring beginners into losing confidence is not a skill. The real skill lies in making complex things easy, a question worth pondering for those who teach.

Therefore, only by mastering the essence of the programming world and honing your inner strength can you possess rapid learning ability and meet the ever-changing demands of future work. If you do not recognize this point, you will not understand why you feel so exhausted in the future.

Enhance your interest in programming languages, you must first revive from your own “slacking off state” and change your learning habits. Cultivating interest in programming and increasing your understanding of professional knowledge will bring satisfaction even in completing homework. Next, it’s time to practice problems, as detailed below!

★A good memory is not as good as a wise “book”★
A major issue faced by all beginners is: how to choose textbooks. A good start is half the success; choosing a suitable textbook is the key to achieving twice the result with half the effort. Besides the textbooks provided by the school, do you know any other wise “books”?

“C++ Primer”
“C++
Prime”
“Essential C++”
“C++ Programming Language”
“C++ Programming Tutorial”
Book Explanation

1. “C++ Primer” is centered on beginners and comprehensively introduces various techniques for program development using C++. The content is arranged from simple to complex, allowing readers to gradually master programming techniques; it combines rich illustrations and vivid metaphors to help readers understand “difficult” technologies; it includes numerous tips, tricks, and explanations to solidify readers’ programming skills and enrich their programming experience.

Quality: ★★★★
Breadth: ★★★★
Depth: ★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★★
2. “C++ Prime” is a well-known classic tutorial for C++, combining the rich practical experience of C++ master Stanley B. Lippman and the deep understanding of the C++ standard by former committee chair Josée Lajoie.
Difficulty: ★★☆
Quality: ★★★★★
Breadth: ★★★★★
Depth: ★★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★★☆
3. “Essential C++” is a work by Lippman aimed at beginners. This book explains the essence and structure of C++, helping beginners to gain a general understanding of the language, but the knowledge scope is not very comprehensive and is not suitable for systematic learning; readers need some programming knowledge.
Difficulty: ★☆
Quality: ★★★★
Breadth: ★★★☆
Depth: ★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★☆
4. “Thinking in C++” not only discusses the language but also has a certain engineering aspect, describing how C++ is applied in actual projects from the designer’s perspective. While the language description is not comprehensive, it still has a certain degree of precision, especially regarding some small techniques. This book also introduces numerous case studies, guiding you to think about problems using C++ principles, but it is somewhat challenging.
Difficulty: ★★☆
Quality: ★★★
Breadth: ★★★☆
Depth: ★★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★★
5. “The C++ Programming Language” is written by the father of C++, known as the “bible of C++.” This book provides detailed descriptions not only of the language but also of its development history and semantic philosophy. The language description is quite comprehensive and includes some knowledge related to libraries, with a certain depth, suitable for beginners with a basic understanding of the language, good translation quality, and moderate price.
Difficulty: ★☆
Quality: ★★★★☆
Breadth: ★★★★
Depth: ★★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★★☆
6. “C++ Programming Tutorial” is written by a local author. Although its depth and breadth are lacking, it has some clear and simple explanations that align with Chinese students’ thinking, making it inexpensive.

Quality: ★★★
Breadth: ★★★☆
Depth: ★★★
Cost-effectiveness: ★★★★★

Remember a principle: do not read books that you currently cannot understand; that is a waste of life. If you cannot understand, you must be missing some necessary foundational knowledge. At this time, you should carefully analyze what content you need to supplement and then find materials that cover those topics. Complete your foundational knowledge before returning to study; that way, you will truly achieve twice the result with half the effort.
★Wise “books” are not as good as a worn keyboard★
In fact, there are many C++ compilers available online; just a quick search will yield numerous options. Here, I recommend Dev-C++, which I find to be a user-friendly compiler for beginners, with many shortcuts. The only downside is that it looks a bit outdated. Without further ado, here’s the download link:

At this point, the compiler has been downloaded!

However, this compileronly supports Windows systems; Mac users can try using their terminal or download VScode to run programs. However, I do not recommend Windows users to download VScode, as Windowsrequires configuration, while Mac generally does not.
