On September 13, a special retail store appeared at Taihu Center Mall. The silver-gray capsule occupies only 9 square meters, with no human clerks; all operations are independently handled by a robot named “Galbot”.
Part 01The Robot as a “Store Clerk”
The robot retail store is called “Galactic Capsule,” featuring an interactive screen and a product exit. Inside the capsule, shelves display nearly twenty types of products, including drinks and snacks. When a customer scans the code to order mineral water, the robot’s arms immediately start moving, accurately retrieving a bottle of water from the shelf and then placing it steadily at the capsule’s pickup area, completing the entire process in under a minute.“From ordering to receiving the product, the connection is very smooth; this shopping method is quite novel,” said Mr. Zhang, a customer who experienced it.
Part 02Technology-Driven, Smart Response to Real Scenarios
The project leader introduced thatthis robot does not operate according to a fixed pre-set program but is driven by “embodied large model” technology,which can respond to dynamic changes in retail scenarios, achieving two intelligent functions: visual re-localization for grabbing and real-time automatic inventory.
Compared to traditional convenience stores, this robot store adopts amodular capsule design, allowing for extremely flexible deployment, operational within two days, and can be equipped with refrigeration or freezing modules based on scenario needs.
Part 03Culture + Technology Creating New Intelligent Consumption Scenarios
The robot store’s establishment in the Taihu Resort Area is a vivid practice of promoting“Culture + Technology”integrated development. The project plans to set up next to the music fountain at the South Square of Suzhou Taihu International Conference Center,aiming to combine leading robotic technology with the scenic beauty of Taihu, creating new intelligent consumption scenarios for citizens and tourists.
In the future, the robot retail warehouse will also introduce a series of cultural and creative products called “Taihu Gifts.”When technology-rich intelligent retail meets unique products steeped in Taihu’s cultural heritage, citizens and tourists can unlock a dual surprise experience of “Technology + Culture” with just one click.
