On September 6, 2025, the group standard “IoT Application Level Evaluation Specification” (Standard No.: T/CA 024—2025) was officially released nationwide, organized and compiled by the Internet of Things Application Branch of the China Communications Industry Association. This standard is an important normative document in the field of IoT applications in China, aimed at establishing a scientific and unified evaluation system for IoT application levels, providing important technical basis and standard support for the healthy development of the industry.
The “IoT Application Level Evaluation Specification” group standard was jointly drafted by the Internet of Things Application Branch of the China Communications Industry Association, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) TIER System Laboratory, Hebei Institute of Technology Innovation Research Co., Ltd., Ningbo City Vocational Technical College, Ordos Applied Technology College, Beijing Zhongyuan Yishang Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Liyang Light Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing New Smart City Engineering Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Yiyongxin Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Inspur Enterprise Cloud Technology (Shandong) Co., Ltd., Suzhou Aired Digital Technology Co., Ltd., Shanshui Cloud (Beijing) Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. Weifang Branch, Ningbo Digital Economy Development Center, Nantong Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Weifang Big Data Center, and Liaoning Communication Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal Center. completed the drafting.
This standard systematically constructs an evaluation index system covering the entire lifecycle of IoT technology applications, including multiple dimensions such as infrastructure, data perception, network transmission, platform services, intelligent applications, security guarantees, economic benefits, and social benefits, setting five levels: A, B, C, D, and E for the IoT system capabilities and application service levels of enterprises or related institutions. It provides a comprehensive and objective assessment of the implementation level and maturity of various IoT applications, offering scientific basis for enterprises or institutions’ self-diagnosis, industry benchmarking, and government policy formulation.
