Background

Guangzhou Liguang Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 1999, providing chips and intelligent IoT solutions for industrial and automotive electronic users, as well as an intelligent IoT development platform designed for the pain points of R&D personnel.

In addition, its ZWS Cloud Platform supports quick access for devices with various protocols, supports data transparent forwarding and a complete secondary development package, supports full private deployment, and provides a feature-rich backend MIS system for unified device management, offering one-stop solutions for customers’ core needs.

The full name of the ZWS Cloud Platform is: ZLG Web Service Cloud Computing Service Platform, which is a standard general IoT cloud platform service system that supports the access management of devices with various communication protocols, including ZigBee, LoRaWAN, OPC UA, CAN, Modbus, etc., featuring remote monitoring and management of devices, data parsing, data analysis, alarm triggering, data pushing, and more. Additionally, it includes PaaS IoT cloud and automotive electronics CAN smart cloud, enabling artificial intelligence big data processing in a “device + cloud + terminal” model.

Challenges

As the need to support an increasing variety of devices accessing the ZWS Cloud Platform grows, semantic interoperability becomes particularly important, necessitating a data specification to normalize all device data into a single format for easy reading and writing and improving the efficiency of the cloud platform.

Moreover, due to the diverse and complex sources of accessing devices, security becomes paramount, requiring assurance that data is safe and reliable throughout the entire system from devices to local and then to the cloud.

To address these needs, ZWS needs to develop an OPC UA interface to facilitate more efficient access for devices that support the OPC UA protocol to this cloud platform.

Solution

To meet the demand for integrating OPC UA functionality into the ZWS cloud platform, Liguang Technology chose Hongke’s MatrikonFLEX OPC UA SDK, which is specifically designed for developers, system integrators, and device and control manufacturers.

It provides all the features necessary to quickly enable devices and applications with high-performance OPC UA functionality, which is a crucial part of achieving smarter operations and key IIoT solutions.

This SDK is built on the OPC UA “integrated client” design, abstracting the low-level OPC UA implementation details, allowing software developers to quickly and easily create scalable, user-friendly, OPC UA-supported applications.

Many vendors offer OPC UA SDKs on the market, but unlike other OPC UA SDKs that require developers to use separate OPC UA toolkits when implementing products on different platforms, Hongke’s MatrikonFLEX SDK only requires developers to use this one to use, maintain, and update all products, ultimately greatly reducing the time required to bring products to market.

The ZWS cloud platform has now successfully supported OPC UA, allowing users to view defined nodes through the developed OPC UA client before collecting business data, and then creating OPC UA device type data points corresponding to node attributes in the ZWS cloud. By entering the URI of the OPC UA server when adding an OPC UA device, the OPC UA device can successfully connect to the ZWS cloud platform, making the entire process simple and efficient.
