KSC-4000A is a software specifically designed for low power direct current consumption analysis for battery-powered devices. It can be combined with the Keithley DMM7510 7.5-digit digital multimeter or the 2280S high-precision DC power supply for direct current consumption analysis.
The following figure shows the current data of a Bluetooth bracelet in standby mode for 1 hour tested with KSC-4000A (the sampling rate for this test is 1000 points/second):
The following figure shows the results of cursor selection for the current measured from the Bluetooth bracelet over 1 hour (it can calculate the maximum, minimum, average values, and milliamp-hours within 1 hour):
Note: The energy consumed in this test over1 hour is2.906×10-4 milliamp-hours, which provides a reference for the battery capacity used in product design.
The following figure is an enlarged view of the current measured from the Bluetooth bracelet over 1 hour, allowing for viewing the curve of each Bluetooth pulse current and selecting a specific segment for measuring maximum, minimum, average values, and milliamp-hours:
Continuing to zoom in, we can test the individual Bluetooth pulse current values and the current during the gaps between Bluetooth pulses, which is very practical for analyzing the current when the product is not sending Bluetooth data and comparing it with the current when sending Bluetooth data. The comparison results are shown in the figure below:
Without selecting the Bluetooth pulse current, the average current is35.78uA, while the average current over1 hour (including Bluetooth pulses, as shown in the above figure, the interval time for Bluetooth pulse current is1.5s) is80.73uA. The difference between these two average current values is about45uA.
Continuing to zoom in, we can test the duration of a single Bluetooth pulse current, as shown below:
Note: The measured duration of a single Bluetooth pulse current is about 10uS. This test used a sampling rate of 1000 points/second, allowing for approximately 10 points to be collected for one Bluetooth pulse current, providing a good sampling rate guarantee for testing analysis. Using this software in conjunction with the Keithley DMM7510 7.5-digit digital multimeter can achieve up to 1M points/second. If a higher sampling rate is desired, sampling rates of 10K points/second, 100K points/second, etc., can be used.
In summary, using the KSC-4000A low power direct current consumption analysis software along with the Keithley DMM7510 7.5-digit digital multimeter or 2280S high-precision DC power supply provides a great solution for current analysis of low power products such as Bluetooth.
