
“Now, logging into the intelligent well management system allows for quick viewing of well production and optimization measures, greatly improving labor efficiency.” Chen Yong, a technician at the Oil and Gas Process Research Institute of Changqing Oilfield, introduced while operating the intelligent well management system.
In accordance with the China National Petroleum Corporation’s deployment of “digital transformation and intelligent development,” Changqing Oilfield actively builds an “IoT + Cloud Computing” application platform focusing on three aspects: unification of gas field control platforms, automation of front-end equipment, and intelligence of production operations. They have developed supporting intelligent equipment, innovated intelligent algorithms for measures, and promoted the deep integration of digital and intelligent technologies with gas field production. As of now, 23,057 gas wells have been connected to the intelligent well management system, achieving a 100% data online rate and a 99.5% data accuracy rate.
To establish a unified gas well control platform, standardize various data and application interface specifications for gas well production, and comprehensively promote data sharing and in-depth utilization of data resources, Changqing Oilfield has built a big data storage and application platform for gas well industrial IoT, enabling front-end data to be uploaded to the cloud and back-end cloud-based analysis. The management of gas wells has achieved automation, visualization, intelligence, and integration, significantly increasing labor productivity. The per capita natural gas output in the Sulige gas field has risen from 2 million cubic meters to 11 million cubic meters, showing remarkable quality improvement and efficiency enhancement.
Changqing Oilfield has independently developed intelligent plungers, intelligent well switching devices, and integrated data collection systems, driving continuous upgrades and improvements of intelligent equipment, achieving electronic inspections of gas wells, and remote automatic control of measures such as plunging, gas lifting, and intermittent opening. The southeastern block of Changqing gas field has established the first intelligent drainage and gas extraction demonstration area featuring various processes such as gas lifting with plungers, remote intermittent opening, and automatic gas discharge, with an intelligent coverage rate of 95%. The workload of frontline employees has decreased by 60%, and work efficiency has improved by over 15%.
Intelligent algorithms are the soul of intelligent management of measures. Changqing Oilfield has independently developed an intelligent extraction algorithm for gas wells, which continuously monitors production data and predicts key parameters such as pressure and gas volume at different production stages throughout the lifecycle of the gas well. This allows for optimization of gas well measure plans, adjustment of production systems, identification of abnormal conditions, and emergency response coordination. Currently, intelligent algorithms have been applied to over 2,000 wells in the oil field, increasing the effective rate of measures to 90%, with the adjustment frequency of measure wells changing from “once a day” to “once every three months,” achieving deep integration of digital and intelligent technologies with gas field development.
