01Introduction to the School of Computer Software
The School of Computer Software at Weifang University of Science and Technology was established in 2003. It currently offers three undergraduate programs: “Computer Science and Technology”, “Software Engineering”, and “Internet of Things Engineering”; as well as four associate degree programs: “Software Technology”, “Computer Application Technology”, “Computer Network Technology”, and “Digital Media Application Technology”. The school has four teaching departments: the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Department of Software Engineering, the Department of Internet of Things Engineering, and the Department of Digital Media. There are over 2,600 students enrolled. The faculty consists of 105 teachers, including 7 professors, 38 associate professors, and 18 teachers with doctoral degrees, with 97% of the faculty holding master’s degrees.
The school emphasizes the cultivation of practical skills, highlighting software engineering project development capabilities. It has a superior teaching environment, equipped with various laboratories including an iOS laboratory, a network cabling laboratory, a network and information security laboratory, a computer organization principles laboratory, an embedded systems laboratory, an electronic communication laboratory, a microcomputer principles and interface technology laboratory, a microcontroller laboratory, a software engineering laboratory, and a Huawei network laboratory. It also has a Pearson VUE international examination center, which can conduct most computer-related certification exams, including Huawei certifications and CCF CSP certifications. The school focuses on cultivating high-quality applied professionals.
02Advantages of the School
The School of Computer Software places great importance on professional development and curriculum construction. The Software Technology program has been recognized as a “Shandong Province Characteristic Major”; the Software Engineering program has been recognized as a superior characteristic major for undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province and a first-class undergraduate major construction point in Shandong Province. The “Innovative Experimental Zone for Software Service Outsourcing Talent Cultivation Model Based on the School’s Software Park” has been established as a construction project for innovative talent cultivation models in higher education institutions in Shandong Province; the project “Construction of the ‘Software Engineering’ Professional Group to Connect with the New Generation of Information Technology Industry under the Transformation of Old and New Kinetic Energy” has been approved by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education and has received 2 million yuan in funding support. The project “Construction and Practice of the ‘School-Enterprise Cooperation’ Software College Talent Cultivation Platform” won the second prize for provincial-level teaching achievements in Shandong Province.
Four online courses have been developed: “Object-Oriented Programming”, “Digital Circuits”, “Computer Networks”, and “Graphics and Image Processing”. The courses “Object-Oriented Programming” and “Digital Circuits” have been recognized as high-quality digital courses for adult higher education in Shandong Province. The “Data Structures” course has been recognized as a first-class course in Shandong Province.
The school emphasizes the training of young teachers. Three teachers have won first prizes in the Shandong Province Young Teacher Information Technology Teaching Competition, three have won third prizes, and one has won a third prize in the Shandong Province Young Teacher Teaching Competition. The school encourages teachers to participate in external learning and academic exchanges regularly. The school has innovated its talent cultivation model, establishing seven student-teacher studios in areas such as software development, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, and digital media. The small class-based engineering teaching practice based on these studios has shown significant results. Professional clubs are affiliated with the studios, and club activities are effectively integrated into studio projects, achieving both interest-driven engagement and professional enhancement. The project “Crafting the World – Precision Poverty Alleviation Project for the Whole Industry Chain” won a silver medal at the 5th Shandong Province “Internet+” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; the Blue Bridge Cup won a national second prize; and the Shandong Province College Student Technology Festival Software Design Competition awarded a special prize.

Software Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree)
The Software Engineering program is a key undergraduate program at Weifang University of Science and Technology. In May 2015, it was recognized as a superior characteristic major for private undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province.
This program addresses the national demand for secure and controllable software development under the integration of information technology and industrialization, conducting scientific research and talent cultivation in areas such as trustworthy software foundational theory, trustworthy software construction methods, software engineering technology, and software service engineering, while promoting the application of software science and technology in related fields.
The program has a four-year curriculum, with major courses including Object-Oriented Programming, Discrete Mathematics, Computer Networks, Introduction to Databases, Operating Systems, Data Structures, Computer Organization Principles, Software Engineering, Software Design and Architecture, Software Quality Assurance and Testing, Software Requirements Analysis, Dynamic Website Development, and Mobile Application Development.
Graduates of this program are awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Program Features: The innovative approach of “interest-driven clubs, competition-promoted learning, project training, and professional enhancement” aims to cultivate applied talents. The program adheres to a one-on-one small class project-based training model between clubs and professional studios, actively engaging in extracurricular scientific activities that are academic, innovative, professional, and practical, achieving breakthroughs in competitions such as “Internet+”, Blue Bridge Cup, ACM, and software design competitions.
Graduates can work as Web Development Engineers, Mobile Development Engineers, Computer System Development Engineers, and Computer Software Application Engineers in mainstream IT companies and traditional enterprises with information technology application needs.
Internet of Things Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree)
The Internet of Things Engineering program is a key program at the school.
This program cultivates high-quality applied professionals who are well-rounded in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic aspects, capable of solving practical problems in the Internet of Things engineering field. Students are expected to master the fundamental knowledge, theories, and skills of the Internet of Things engineering, with certain capabilities in research and development of IoT products, application and promotion of IoT technologies, and related comprehensive abilities.
The program has a four-year curriculum, with major courses including Fundamentals of Programming, Computer Network Technology, Basic Circuit Analysis, Analog Electronic Technology, Digital Electronic Technology, Introduction to Database Systems, Embedded Operating Systems (Linux), Sensor Network Technology and Applications, Microcontroller Principles and Applications, Embedded System Development and Applications, IoT System Design, and IoT Information Security Technology.
Graduates of this program are awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Program Features: The innovative approach of “interest-driven clubs, competition-promoted learning, project training, and professional enhancement” aims to cultivate applied talents. The program adheres to a one-on-one small class project-based training model. During the talent cultivation process, the IoT Innovation Studio and professional clubs serve as platforms, actively engaging in project-based practical activities, achieving nominations for special prizes and first prizes in various competitions such as Internet+, Shandong Province College Student Software Design Competition, and Shandong Province College Robot Competition.
Graduates can work in the fields of IoT technology and related areas, engaging in scientific research, system integration, equipment manufacturing, key technology research and development, network operation and management, etc. They can take on roles such as IoT Embedded Development Engineers and IoT Platform Software Development Engineers.
Computer Science and Technology (Bachelor’s Degree)
The Computer Science and Technology program was recognized as a key characteristic program at Weifang University of Science and Technology in 2016 and as a model brand program for school-enterprise cooperation (integration of industry and education) in Shandong Province in 2018.
This program cultivates high-quality applied professionals who are well-rounded in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor aspects, capable of working in the fields of computer applications, software development, and embedded development. Students are expected to have a solid foundation in the basic knowledge, theories, and skills of computer science and technology, with strong abilities in the design, development, testing, maintenance, application, and management of computer application systems and embedded systems, as well as innovative spirit and practical abilities.
The program has a four-year curriculum, with major courses including Data Structures, Database Principles, Operating Systems, C Language Programming, Digital Logic, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Computer Organization Principles, Object-Oriented Programming, Dynamic Website Development Technology, Embedded Operating Systems, and Mobile Development Technology. This program is jointly established by Weifang University of Science and Technology and Neusoft Education Technology Group.
This program cultivates high-quality applied professionals who possess high professional, scientific, and humanistic qualities, mastering the basic knowledge, theories, and skills of computer science technology and big data technology, capable of engaging in data processing, analysis, prediction, and computer application maintenance in the IT industry, public institutions, and other sectors.
The program has a four-year curriculum, with major courses including Data Structures, Database Principles, Operating Systems, C Language Programming, Digital Logic, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Computer Organization Principles, Object-Oriented Programming, Web Development Technology, Cloud Platform Construction, Hadoop Engineering Practice, Python Data Processing Programming, and Basics of Big Data In-Memory Computing. The Software Technology program is a traditional advantageous associate degree program at Weifang University of Science and Technology. In March 2005, it was recognized as a “Shandong Province Demonstration Major”, and in April 2010, it was recognized as a “Shandong Province Characteristic Major”.

Digital Media Application Technology (Associate Degree)
The Digital Media Application Technology program originated from the Computer Multimedia Technology program established in 2004. It is designed in accordance with national development plans, relying on local industrial layouts, market demand-oriented, and aimed at enhancing application capabilities, strengthening professional research, rationally formulating talent cultivation goals, and improving course structures while enhancing comprehensive quality training.
This program cultivates well-rounded professionals in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic aspects, possessing good professional ethics and humanistic qualities, mastering theoretical knowledge of digital media technology, foundational production skills, and cutting-edge production technologies, with good graphic and image processing abilities, audio and video editing skills, engaging in digital image processing, digital model production, digital animation production, digital audio and video editing, digital film and television production, multimedia design and production.
The program has a three-year curriculum, with major courses including Fundamentals of Programming, Graphics and Image Processing, Vector Graphics Production, Web Design and Production, VI Design, Computer Drawing and Design, 2D Animation Production, 3D Spatial Design, 3D Animation Design, and Multimedia Non-linear Editing.
Program Features: The program emphasizes the cultivation of students’ professional qualities, ensuring that students have solid professional knowledge, strong practical skills, and high comprehensive qualities. It relies on the establishment of a digital media studio, using a project-based small class concept to promote the joint growth of students and teachers.
Graduates primarily work in digital media application enterprises such as television stations, online media, news publishing, film and television advertising, animation, and gaming, engaging in web design and development, graphic and image processing, model construction, audio and video editing, and game design and development.
Computer Network Technology (Associate Degree)
The Computer Network Technology program is a key program at Weifang University of Science and Technology.
This program cultivates high-level technical applied professionals who meet the needs of production, construction, management, and service sectors, possessing certain theoretical knowledge of computer network technology and strong operational abilities, capable of acquiring, organizing, analyzing, developing, and publishing computer network information, with well-rounded development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor aspects.

The program has a three-year curriculum, with core courses including Fundamentals of Programming, Computer Network Technology, Computer Assembly and Maintenance, Digital Electronic Technology, Database Principles and Applications, Linux Operating System, Advanced Network Communication Technology, Network Device Configuration and Management, Network Server Configuration and Management, Advanced Network Communication Switching Technology, Network Engineering Technology and Practice, Network Security Technology, and Dynamic Website Development Technology.
Our school is the sixth undergraduate institution in Shandong Province to establish an ICT Academy in collaboration with Huawei. It has established an innovative talent cultivation mechanism centered on “innovation-driven, based on the cultivation system, focusing on research training, and guided by social demand”. The school-enterprise cooperation has built a “double innovation” laboratory, stimulating the potential of teachers and students, achieving good results in innovation and entrepreneurship.

04Student Activities01Professional Clubs in Studios to Stimulate Enthusiasm
To better connect with enterprise research projects and provide broad space for students’ personalized development, the School of Software has taken the initiative to respect the research interests of teachers and the professional aspirations of students, establishing seven student-teacher studios in areas such as software development, smart applications, and digital media. Students form professional clubs based on their interests and career plans, and the seven student professional clubs established, such as Qianhang Software, Future Robotics, and IoT Alliance, are affiliated with the studios, effectively integrating club activities into studio projects, thus achieving interest-driven engagement and professional enhancement.
02Implementing the “4030 Reading Plan” and “Six Ones” Practical Education Activities
The “4030 Reading Plan” aims to encourage more reading and quality reading, creating a quiet atmosphere on campus. During their time at school, students are encouraged to participate in a club, a volunteer service team, organize an event, manage a school task, serve as a class monitor for a week, and have a personal sports project.
05School-Enterprise Cooperation01Utilizing Nearby Small and Medium Enterprises to Lay the Foundation for Expansion
The School of Computer Software fully leverages its proximity to the Shouguang Software Park, facilitating cooperation with multiple software enterprises, establishing a “park-school collaboration, school-enterprise cooperation” talent cultivation platform for computer-related majors, forming a mutually beneficial and regular cooperation, solidifying the foundation for school-enterprise collaboration.
02Actively Connecting with High-End Enterprises to Gradually Improve Cooperation Levels
Firstly, the Neusoft Ruidao Academy established in cooperation with Neusoft Group has begun enrolling students. The school and enterprise jointly formulate professional talent cultivation plans, laying a good foundation for deep cooperation and integration of industry and education.
Neusoft Group has established software engineering training rooms and big data training rooms in the School of Computer Software. All training rooms use products currently applied by Neusoft Group, creating an enterprise production software and hardware environment, addressing three major issues: lack of professional teaching cases, difficulties in internship management, and limited exposure to cutting-edge practical operations, integrating project experiments, course design, scientific research innovation, and graduation design into one, greatly enhancing students’ learning interest and creating an important platform for collaborative innovation in talent cultivation, developing students’ comprehensive application development and innovation capabilities.
Neusoft Group regularly holds corporate lectures at our school. Topics include “Industry Solutions Information Systems for JAVA in Oracle Database Environment”, current patterns and future planning in the IT industry, job interview and career planning workshops, and explanations of corporate culture, laying a solid foundation for students to become reserve talents in IT software development engineering.
Secondly, we have established the Huawei Information and Network Technology (ICT) Academy in collaboration with Huawei. Our school has become the sixth undergraduate institution in Shandong Province to establish an ICT Academy in collaboration with Huawei, following Shandong University, Qingdao University of Technology, Qingdao Agricultural University, Qufu Normal University, and Shandong Sport University. A strategic cooperation agreement has been reached with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., elevating the quality of education in our computer-related programs to a new level.
Huawei is committed to making the ICT Academy a fertile ground for cultivating ICT talents, adopting an open ecological approach to joint talent cultivation, actively promoting core industrial technologies and cutting-edge innovative technologies into the campus. According to the agreement, Huawei will provide our teachers with training in Huawei-certified technical fields, serving the professional growth of teachers, optimizing solutions in course development and platform construction, assisting the School of Software in building professional laboratories, and maintaining interaction and communication with the school through activities such as the Huawei College Student ICT Skills Competition and Huawei ICT Talent Alliance dual-selection meeting, providing more employment opportunities for our students through its numerous upstream and downstream enterprises, significantly enhancing the employment quality of students in computer-related majors.
Huawei ICT Academy actively promotes project implementation. In September 2018, the Huawei Information and Network Technology training room was completed and put into use. The first cooperative project, the “Huawei HCNA Engineer Certification Class”, was launched, with over 70 teachers and students participating in the training. The training was conducted by a gold medal instructor from Jinan Bosai Network Technology Co., Ltd., the only agent for Huawei ICT Academy in Shandong, which has years of experience in Huawei certification training. Ultimately, 51 teachers and students passed the certification, acquiring the ability to assist in designing and implementing small and medium-sized network technologies using Huawei routing and switching equipment.

Employment and entrepreneurship education has been conducted, and the employment rate of graduates has consistently maintained above 95% for many years.
