When using the CU240B-2 DP, CU240E-2 DP, CU230P-2 DP, and CU250S-2 DP control units, the inverter will trigger the F01910 fault if it does not receive a message from the PROFIBUS master station within the specified watchdog time.

1

Common Causes of Faults

(1)

Abnormality in the DP Master Station

  • The PLC is in STOP state.

  • There may be a brief communication interruption when the PLC downloads hardware configuration.

(2)

Hardware Issues

  • Broken DP cable or loose DP connector.

  • The PROFIBUS DP interface of the inverter is damaged.

(3)

Interference Issues

  • Improper terminal resistance settings on the DP connector.

  • Wiring installation does not meet standards.

  • PROFIBUS communication is subject to interference.

Common Solutions

(1)

Abnormality in the Master Station

  • Check the status of the DP master station.

  • Generally, when users download new hardware configurations to the PLC, the inverter will report F01910. In this case, users need to reset by sending control word 04FE. If users want the inverter to automatically reset communication faults after each communication interruption, this can be achieved through a free function block. (2)

Abnormality in the DP Master Station

  • Check if the DP connector is loose or if the DP cable is broken.

  • Conduct a comparative test using a swapped control unit to determine if the inverter’s PROFIBUS DP port is damaged.

(3)

Interference Issues

  • Ensure that the terminal resistance DIP switches on each DP connector are set correctly, meaning the resistors at both ends of the DP network should be set to “ON” while others should be set to “OFF”.

  • Check if the PROFIBUS terminal sites are powered; if not powered, the terminal resistance is ineffective.

  • Ensure that the shielding layer of the PROFIBUS cable is reliably grounded, and that the shielding layer is properly crimped to the DP connector’s shielding clip. The PROFIBUS cable should not run alongside power cables in the same tray or duct. For more wiring standards, please refer to:

    https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/cn/zh/view/60612658

  • Check if the communication cable is excessively long; refer to the relevant manual for the maximum cable length allowed at different communication rates.

  • Appropriately reduce the PROFIBUS communication rate to improve the bus’s resistance to interference.

  • Users can extend the watchdog time P2047; if communication recovers within the monitoring time, F01910 fault will not be triggered.

If users cannot find the exact cause for the inverter reporting F01910 but are eager to get the equipment running, they can set P2118[0] = 1910 and P2119[0] = 3 to mask this fault. After masking the fault, a bus interruption will not cause a fault shutdown, and the inverter will continue to operate at the last set speed. It is important to note that setting P2047 to 0 does not mask communication faults. For safety reasons, users need to set a hardwired emergency stop to ensure that the equipment can stop normally in emergencies.
