How to Effectively Utilize Surgical Robots? Currently, many surgical robots are competing with traditional level 2/3 surgeries for business, but they require longer preoperative preparation time, take more time during the operation, and do not show significant advantages in postoperative outcomes. Additionally, the surgical fees are much higher, often leading to the choice of robotic surgery primarily to increase the number of robotic procedures performed. In light of these characteristics, especially under the impact of centralized procurement and DRG payment systems, surgical robots should be utilized as much as possible for conducting level 4 surgeries. In the current environment, doctors not only need to perform robotic surgeries well but also understand how to establish standardized clinical pathways for robotic surgery. This requires collaborative efforts from surgical robot manufacturers to create a win-win situation. Existing surgical robot products are homogeneous and have single functions, with similar technical architectures across different brands. How to differentiate similar products based on clinical needs can bring greater benefits to hospitals in the context of medical reform. The future focus on product differentiation should be on planning standardized clinical pathways and constructing clinical support paradigms for the entire surgical process, especially the integration of AI functionalities.
