The first impression of this device is that it is lightweight and thin, with official data showing a thickness of 7.8 mm and a weight of 480 grams, making it easy to hold with one hand. Although the shell is made of composite materials, it does not feel cheap; the craftsmanship still appears solid in Xiao Yu’s view.
On the front, there is a 10.4-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2000×1200. To be honest, you can slightly notice some graininess when viewed up close, but at a normal viewing distance for watching movies or reading, the display quality is completely adequate. The colors are natural, not as vivid as some OLED screens, and they are easy on the eyes for prolonged use. The bezels are not particularly narrow by today’s standards, but they are uniformly wide, which does not look awkward visually, and accidental touches are less likely when holding it horizontally.
Flipping it over, the middle frame and back cover have a strong sense of unity. The middle frame has a curved design that fits comfortably in the hand, and the speaker openings are also arranged here. It is equipped with four speakers, and the sound output is quite good, providing a spacious soundstage for watching shows and listening to music, significantly better than a phone. The camera module features a single rear camera with 13 megapixels, which is adequate for scanning codes, but for regular use, you would rely on the 8-megapixel front camera.
In terms of performance, it runs smoothly without any pressure. The Kirin 985 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage may not be considered powerful today, but combined with MagicUI 4.0, daily operations remain responsive. Switching between various applications like WeChat, Bilibili, DingTalk, and WPS does not cause any lag or crashes; only when too many background applications are open does the system ‘encourage’ some apps to close, which is completely understandable.
The system it uses includes features like split-screen and floating windows. In landscape mode, many apps have been optimized, especially the built-in player and some educational software, making the parallel view feature still practical. I tried checking information while taking notes, and the screen space allocation was very reasonable, not feeling cramped at all.
Regarding battery life, it has a built-in capacity of 7250mAh and comes with a 22.5W charger. At medium brightness for watching videos and browsing the web, it can last a day and a half without any issues. The charging speed is not particularly fast, but considering it is mainly used at home or indoors, battery anxiety is not a significant concern.
It can handle light games like “Honor of Kings” at lower graphics settings, but larger 3D games can be quite demanding due to the hardware and thermal management. It is mainly used for watching videos, attending online classes, and taking notes, and it is a reliable choice for those tasks. Especially now that the second-hand market is quite low, some even come with a keyboard and stylus, making it sufficient for children’s online classes or as a temporary light office screen.
In summary, although the Honor V6 is already an older device released five years ago, its hardware is still competent, the system is well-optimized, and with a decent screen and sound, it remains a tablet worth considering. After all, not everyone needs top-tier performance; sometimes, just enough is more practical.
