1.Background

With many box channels collapsing, numerous so-called box source factories have fled, leaving the initial batch of box distributors in a lurch. The industry has developed chaotically, and the so-called xx clouds have exited the scene, leaving a mess behind. A large number of idle boxes are left sitting in corners gathering dust. These idle boxes can be reflashed with images from leading platforms to continue generating some revenue. However, flashing has a certain technical threshold, and the variety of flashing packages can be overwhelming. The flashing tutorials on various platforms are also lacking clarity. Even someone with a bit of a background like me finds it confusing, let alone novice users. Many experienced users privately ask how to flash, and I often receive various boxes to help them flash. Some I can manage, while others I truly cannot assist with. Given this situation, I will document the boxes that I have successfully flashed for reference, helping novice users avoid unnecessary detours.

2.Confirming the Box Chip

This document’s operational steps are only suitable for the Allwinner H618 set-top box. I have not tested other boxes, so I cannot guarantee they will work. How can you confirm what chip and model your box uses? Here are three common methods I use:

2.1.Label

The box manufacturer will usually place a label on the box indicating the specific chip model. Such manufacturers are considered conscientious, as you won’t need to search everywhere. See the image below:

2.2.Boot Screen

If there is no corresponding label on the box, another way is to check the boot screen of the box. Power on the box. In the image below, “AllwiMER” is the logo of Allwinner.

2.3.Disassembling the CPU

If the above methods still do not reveal the chip model, you will have to disassemble the box. Remove the CPU heatsink and check the information on the CPU.

3.Preparing the Flashing Environment

3.1.Preparing Flashing Tools

Prepare 1 SD card and 1 SD card reader, and insert the SD card into the reader.

3.2.Preparing the Flashing Package

You can find the flashing package on the Dianxin Cloud official website, or you can use the flashing package provided by me, with the download link at the end of this document.

3.3.Burning the Image

3.3.1.Installing the Burning Software

We will use Allwinner’s card flashing software PhoenixCard v4.2.7, with the download link at the end of this document. It is recommended to use Windows 10 or higher for flashing.

3.3.2.Burning the Image

Insert the U disk (SD card) and start burning.

1)Format the SD card. If formatting fails, go to Disk Management, delete the partition of the SD card, and try again. If it still doesn’t work, reinsert the SD card.

2)Start burning.

3.4.Flashing

1) Insert the SD card with the flashed image.

2) Power on the set-top box, insert the network cable, and connect to the display. Ensure that the network is functioning properly, using a cable that can connect immediately.

3) The box will automatically flash upon startup.

4) After flashing is complete, the box will automatically shut down. Remove the SD card and restart the box.

5) Obtain the QR code for device binding, and get the IP address of the set-top box. Access the following URL from another device on the same local network: http://192.168.1.9:31234, to retrieve the binding QR code.

4. Device Binding

1) Download the Dianxin Cloud app and register an account.

2) Bind the device by scanning the QR code on the set-top box. Once bound, you can start earning.

5. Installing APK Applications

This firmware package only installs 1 default launcher and does not come with other pre-installed applications for watching TV. You need to install relevant APK applications. I recommend installing the Dangbei Market.

1) Download the Dangbei Market APK installation package to a U disk and insert it into the set-top box.

2) Install the APK applications.
