According to reports from MEMS Consulting, this week, Duyuan Technology announced an agreement with a “well-known domestic 3D vision technology client” to equip their 3D scanner products with MEMS Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). Duyuan Technology stated that this new collaboration reflects an “increase” in the application scenarios for their automotive-grade MEMS IMU sensor products.

Scanners equipped with MEMS IMUs can perceive their own posture and position changes in real-time within complex environments, providing a stable temporal and spatial reference. This helps improve the efficiency and accuracy of point cloud stitching and modeling, thereby constructing digital models more completely and efficiently, achieving precise restoration of target objects.

MEMS IMU is one of the core products in Duyuan Technology’s high-precision positioning and attitude sensor series.

As one of the few players in the spatial perception industry that has integrated the entire link from MEMS six-axis motion sensor chips to modules and assembly systems, Duyuan Technology’s products have already been widely applied in the automotive field.

Statistics from the Gai Shi Automotive Research Institute show that in the first half of this year alone, Duyuan Technology captured a market share of 56.7% in the automotive high-precision positioning system sector with over 1.135 million units shipped. Huawei and Huace Navigation ranked second and third with market shares of 14.5% and 7.9%, respectively.

Automotive-grade MEMS IMU: A “technical foundation” for cross-industry expansion

While achieving significant leadership in the automotive sector, Duyuan Technology has also made strides in other fields. According to company disclosures and media reports, in addition to the recently announced 3D vision technology, Duyuan Technology has also shipped various automotive-grade positioning and attitude system products that integrate hardware and software in bulk to fields such as robotics, smart agriculture, and wind power generation.

Intelligent agents equipped with high-precision positioning systems possess real-time and accurate spatial perception capabilities, enabling safer and more precise autonomous movement.

In other words, high-precision positioning systems are driving physical AI into practical applications.

The mass production and shipping experience of automotive-grade MEMS sensor products accumulated in the automotive industry has become an important advantage for Duyuan Technology in exploring new markets.

In the robotics field, Duyuan Technology has shipped MEMS IMUs in bulk to intelligent agents such as embodied intelligence and industrial robots (e.g., AGVs), enabling them to achieve posture perception, balance control, and indoor positioning functions. The company has also partnered with the Wuxi Institute of Applied Technology at Tsinghua University to jointly promote the research and development of L4-level autonomous driving and humanoid robot technology.

Additionally, Duyuan’s GNSS module products have also received orders from leading garden robot companies, providing more precise and stable positioning to assist North American and European users in weeding and snow removal. Notably, since the launch of the GNSS module in 2023, the product has achieved mass production and delivery in the millions.

In the construction of smart mines, Duyuan Technology has established partnerships with well-known domestic mining truck manufacturers and autonomous mining truck solution providers to accelerate the intelligent transformation of multiple mining areas in Inner Mongolia and Guangxi. The hundreds of P-Box combination navigation assemblies delivered by Duyuan Technology have undergone durability testing, including high-temperature operation, thermal shock, and temperature cycling, fully simulating the extreme temperatures and vibrations that mining trucks may face during real operations.

In the “last mile” of logistics, Duyuan Technology has developed multiple positioning systems for several unmanned delivery companies, solving navigation and positioning issues for delivery vehicles in scenarios with weak or lost satellite signals, such as between buildings, under dense tree canopies, in corridors, and elevators.

At the same time, Duyuan Technology’s positioning sensors based on MEMS IMU technology have also found widespread applications in smart agriculture. Accurate position and attitude information can help agricultural machinery operate straighter, more accurately, and more steadily. To address the humidity issues in paddy field environments, Duyuan’s high-precision positioning products are treated with a spray coating, providing waterproof and corrosion-resistant properties that meet relevant protection level requirements. This not only effectively ensures stable operation of equipment in complex environments but also significantly extends product lifespan.

Currently, Duyuan Technology has established partnerships with dozens of clients in the agricultural sector, helping various machinery such as agricultural machines, drones, and lawnmowers achieve intelligent and precise operations.

In the energy sector, Duyuan Technology’s MEMS products have also entered the power industry. The company has partnered with a domestic wind power operation solution provider to provide MEMS IMU modules and supporting attitude algorithms in bulk, offering real-time and precise attitude monitoring for wind turbines, which not only enhances power generation efficiency but also improves operational safety.

On August 4, Chengdu’s first autonomous bus line began testing, with four L4-level autonomous buses powered by Duyuan Technology’s high-precision positioning system officially unveiled.

Automotive-grade MEMS IMUs are more reliable and stable.

Automotive-grade products are becoming a powerful tool for Duyuan Technology to achieve the aforementioned “cross-industry” expansions.

Due to the high safety requirements and complex working environments in the automotive industry, automotive-grade components, including positioning sensors, are subject to stricter demands in terms of reliability, stability, accuracy, and functional safety compared to consumer-grade and industrial-grade products.

First is reliability and environmental adaptability. Automotive-grade IMUs must meet automotive industry quality standards such as AEC-Q100, with extremely high requirements for vibration and shock resistance, requiring electronic components to maintain stable operation throughout their entire lifecycle (typically requiring over 15 years).

Secondly, precision and long-term stability are crucial. Automotive-grade IMUs need to maintain the stability of key performance parameters across a wide temperature range and long lifespan. They undergo compensation and calibration across the full temperature range (-40°C to 105°C) to ensure minimal performance degradation throughout their lifecycle.

Additionally, functional safety is worth mentioning. Safety is paramount in the automotive industry, and the development of electronic components must adhere to the strict requirements of the ISO26262 functional safety standard, integrating various safety mechanisms within the chip to provide self-diagnosis, data redundancy and verification, and safety state management functions.

Duyuan Technology has a deep accumulation in the field of safety systems, having been the first to pass the ISO26262 ASIL D functional safety certification in June 2021, and in March 2024, it was awarded the first ISO 21448 expected functional safety process certification in the high-precision positioning field by TÜV Rheinland. This safety barrier established in the automotive industry gives it a strong competitive advantage in the equally demanding fields of high reliability and high safety in autonomous driving.
