Vivid cases
witness the light of hope brought by medical breakthroughs
74-year-old Mr. Yin, tormented by thyroid cancer with multiple metastases, suffered greatly, with pleural effusion becoming a “roadblock” in his life. Treatments from multiple hospitals failed to effectively control his condition.
The respiratory oncology team at Bao’an District People’s Hospitalwas not deterred by difficulties. Under the leadership of Director Xu Fei, after thorough communication with the patient’s family, they decided to adopt systemic targeted therapy combined with bedside thermal perfusion therapy.
This first-of-its-kind treatment plan in the city became Mr. Yin’s “lifeline.”
Thermal perfusion therapy cleverly utilizes the high sensitivity of cancer cells to heat, heating the perfusion fluid containing chemotherapy drugs to a specific temperature, circulating it into the thoracic cavity, precisely eliminating tumor cells while protecting normal tissues.

The recognition of this technology by the Chinese Medical Association’s Respiratory Disease Branch has also allowed more patients to see the dawn of overcoming their illnesses.
Similarly, Xiao Chen’s father, in his battle against Parkinson’s disease, also found a turning point at Bao’an District People’s Hospital’s Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Department. The team led by Director Wu Di successfully performed bilateral deep cervical lymphatic-venous anastomosis, the first ultra-microsurgery technique in Shenzhen for treating Parkinson’s disease, allowing Xiao Chen’s father to regain his confidence in walking like a normal person.

has become a leader in the industry

Since completing Shenzhen’s first cervical deep lymphatic-venous anastomosis for treating Alzheimer’s disease in June 2024, they have continuously refined their techniques and improved treatment management processes. As of April 2025, they have successfully completed over 80surgeries, ranking first among hospitals in Guangdong Province.
To further enhance the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders in the elderly, the hospital has also established the “Geriatric Cognitive Disorder Diagnosis and Treatment Medical Center”, providing patients with “one-stop” precise assessment and treatment through a multidisciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment model, reducing the burden of travel for patients and allowing them to recover their health more quickly.

The empowerment of AI technology
has opened a door to the future for Bao’an’s healthcare
turning many “impossibilities” into “possibilities”
At the Shenzhen Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, the lung disease team led by Professors Jiang Yong and Zhou Hongmei utilized AI robot assistance to perform lung nodule cryoablation.
In traditional surgeries, doctors primarily rely on experience and feel, facing significant challenges and high risks when locating complex small nodules. The introduction of AI robots has completely changed this situation.
Before surgery, it can automatically construct a detailed 3D model of the lungs based on the patient’s CT and other images, clearly presenting the lung nodules alongside surrounding blood vessels, trachea, and other critical structures, like equipping doctors with a “super navigation system,” helping them control the probe with millimeter precision, completing the surgery in just 40 minutes, opening a new treatment pathway for patients who cannot tolerate open surgery.

AI technology also shines
Bao’an District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital collaborated with Shenzhen Taide Robot Company
to develop the AI moxibustion robot

According to Dr. Xu Zheng from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Classic Ward at Bao’an District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, the moxibustion robot is based on traditional Chinese medicine theory, integrating robotic design technology, and utilizing AI deep learning to accurately identify acupuncture points on the human body. Its high-performance flexible robotic arm reaches the acupuncture points for treatment, with intelligent temperature control ensuring safety and effectiveness.

This robot combines ancient moxibustion methods with modern technology, reproducing28 types of moxibustion techniques, accurately locating heat-sensitive acupuncture points, significantly enhancing efficacy.
“The heat-sensitive moxibustion robot can not only be widely used in grassroots medical institutions but has also made breakthrough progress in managing side effects of tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy,” Professor Chen Rixin stated, noting that patient feedback has been very positive, providing new ideas for the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.

The “Bao Medical Intelligence” platform integrates data from 9 hospitals in the district and 220 community health centers, bringing revolutionary changes to the entire process of medical treatment for residents.
Through the “Health Bao’an” mini-program, pregnant women can quickly access recommendations from obstetric experts; during consultations, interpreting robots quickly generate medical records, significantly reducing outpatient record entry time; after discharge, the system pushes personalized plans and reminders for check-ups based on health data, greatly improving follow-up completion rates.
The critical care large modelmonitors critically ill patients in real-time, while the AI-assisted diagnostic systemanalyzes imaging and pathology data to reduce misdiagnosis, allowing residents to enjoy higher quality, efficient, and convenient medical services.

For enterprises, Bao’an District has fully opened medical service scenarios, encouraging hospitals to procure innovative AI products, forming expert teams to build core databases and open them to enterprises, bringing unprecedented opportunities for enterprise development. This “medical-engineering integration” model has attracted many leading companies such as Tencent and Huawei.
