Coral Camera: A Powerful Camera Module Developed by Google’s AI Team

Hello, everyone! I’m the beloved Xiaoyue. Today, I would like to introduce a module produced by Google’s artificial intelligence department—Coral Camera.

The Edge TPU development board requires a high-performance camera module for computer vision applications. Therefore, Coral designed the Coral Camera module, which features 5 million pixels and connects to the board’s MIPI CSI interface via a 24-pin FFC cable. This camera module is packed with features.

Feature Introduction:

• Comprehensive image signal processing capabilities: Auto Exposure Control (AEC), Auto White Balance (AWB), Auto Bandpass Filtering (ABF), Auto 50/60Hz Flicker Suppression, Auto Black Level Calibration (ABLC);

• Multiple image quality enhancement controls: Color Saturation Correction, Hue Correction, Grayscale Correction, Sharpness Correction, Lens Distortion Correction; can even automatically filter out defective pixels and eliminate noise;

• Supports Auto Focus Control (AFC), implemented using embedded AF VCM drive;

Parameter Introduction:

• 5 million pixel CMOS sensor (1/4 inch, 1.4 micron pixel pitch, physical pixels 2582×1933)

• TV Distortion: Less than 1.5%

• Lens Aperture: F=2.2

• Lens Focus Distance: 10 centimeters to infinity

• Field of View: This is an auto-focus lens, the field of view depends on the lens state. 84 degrees (at infinity focus), 87.6 degrees (at 10 cm focus)

• Dual-channel MIPI output interface
