Next, he even wants to play Rainbow Six on the GBA.

Basically Homeless is an FPS game streamer on YouTube. He has nearly 850,000 subscribers, not because of his gaming skills, but because most people are drawn to his quirky ideas.

He has tried playing FPS games with unusual peripherals like guitars, pineapples, and even real mice and electronic pianos. Recently, dissatisfied with his teammates, he attempted to play Rainbow Six on five computers at once. Now, he has a new idea: to build the world’s smallest computer by hand.

In his design, the computer case needs to fit into a box measuring approximately 15.2 cm long, 12.7 cm wide, and 6 cm high. At the same time, the small device must maintain an FPS of over 30 to ensure smooth gameplay for games like Rainbow Six, Apex Legends, and Fortnite.

To achieve this, BH first purchased a Latte Panda Win10 development board from the DFRobot website. This development board measures only 8.8 x 7 cm, which perfectly meets his requirements. He then prepared a 3.4-inch (approximately 8.6 cm) LCD micro-screen, along with a small wireless keyboard and mouse, completing his gaming setup.

BH said the shipping address looked like a secret code, but it was actually the address of DFRobot in Shanghai’s Pudong District.

After trying a game, he personally placed the development board into the prepared box. With his skilled hands, the box transformed into a computer case with glass, and he even punctured ventilation holes with a screwdriver and installed a fan on top. Thus, he successfully created an ultra-small computer host.

Using the 3.4-inch screen, he started a solo match in Rainbow Six. The screen was forced to compress to a 4:3 ratio, and BH had to lean close to see the blurry letters. However, this did not affect his performance, as he still managed to hit his opponent using muscle memory.

True to his nature, BH’s story doesn’t end here; he decided to make an even smaller computer. In the new small box, he replaced the development board with an Intel compute stick, and the wireless mouse was swapped for a finger mouse, reducing the screen size to 3 inches. Finally, all the devices were packed into an even smaller box.

BH didn’t stop there; he further optimized the screen size. Instead of buying smaller devices online, he assembled other micro-components and ultimately DIYed a screen measuring only 0.96 inches (approximately 2.4 cm). With this screen, he also made a small table, chairs, and a tiny microphone, pretending that a miniature person was live-streaming while playing games.

Once everything was ready, he challenged Rainbow Six again. However, upon launching the game, he encountered a warning stating that the device was below the minimum configuration requirements and suggested he upgrade. BH ignored the pop-up and embarked on his solo journey. The game ran smoothly, but the screen under 1 inch made it impossible to see anything clearly. BH had no idea about his status, such as how many bullets he had left, and could only play very seriously and blindly. On the other hand, the mini keyboard could hardly recognize his keystrokes, and tense shooting moments often resulted in misclicks causing him to die.

After causing several teammates to lose, he tried Fortnite. This time, it was a case of a blind cat catching a dead mouse; he happened to encounter an unarmed player nearby as he landed, and of course, he seized the opportunity. After persistent chasing, the opponent finally met their demise at the end of his pickaxe, and the 0.96-inch screen computer setup finally scored its first blood.

After reaching the limits of his homemade device, BH seemed to want to push the boundaries of miniaturization even further. Therefore, he challenged the YouTube account Linus Tech Tips, which specializes in tech videos, hoping they could create a smaller computer than his to help him understand where the true limits lie. If successful, he might even be able to fit a computer inside a GBA, allowing players to play Rainbow Six on GBA.
