Abstract
The 10.5-generation TFT production line began mass production in 2018. Currently, the 10.5-generation is the largest TFT production line designed to produce eight 65-inch panels or six 75-inch panels from a single glass substrate. BOE began mass production in the first quarter of 2018 through its first 10.5-generation B9 production line. Most mainland Chinese panel manufacturers have a depreciation cycle of seven years for equipment, while the depreciation of the factory buildings typically lasts 20 years. Under the leadership of BOE, Huaxing Optoelectronics and Sharp have also successfully invested in the 10.5-generation TFT production line.
Starting from the first quarter of 2025, these 10.5-generation production lines will begin to complete equipment depreciation, significantly reducing the cost of 65-inch and 75-inch 4K LCD panels. Omdia simulated the cost changes of these modules and molded products before and after depreciation, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. Although the factory will continue to depreciate, the full depreciation of equipment in the first quarter of 2025 will allow panel manufacturers to lower the total cost of modules and molded products. This change will enable panel manufacturers to increase demand without sacrificing profit margins and improve the utilization of their 10.5-generation facilities.
