Advantech has launched two new embedded single board computers (ESBC) — the MIO-5152 3.5″ and MIO-2363 Pico-ITX. These industrial-grade single board computers are equipped with Intel’s 8th generation Atom Elkhart Lake x6000E and Celeron N/J series processors, suitable for various application scenarios. MIO-5152 adheres to strict safety standards (IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 Criteria A), providing rich I/O to empower retail and medical applications.MIO-2363 features a more robust design, capable of supporting harsh outdoor applications, including wide voltage DC power input (12~24 V), integrated onboard memory/storage design, and support for wide temperature operation (-40~85°C).
Major DRAM manufacturers have shifted their focus to the production and development of DDR4 and DDR5, leading to a surge in DDR3 prices since Q4 2020, which in turn has forced the IoT market to adopt DDR4 technology as the primary data transfer method. Advantech’s MIO-5152 and MIO-2363 are the first Intel Atom-based embedded single board computers to adopt DDR4. DDR4 compatible systems can transmit more data with less power consumption while providing more reliable delivery cycles and maintaining stable market prices.
Advantech’s MIO-5152 complies with IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 (contact discharge 8kV and air discharge 15kV) Criteria A, protecting against electrostatic discharge generated in sensitive environments such as hospitals and factories, preventing failures caused by human touch. The MIO-5152 also provides rich I/O — 6 UARTs, 6 USBs, dual LAN, and M.2 expansion, enabling network connectivity for storage, camera, and sensor nodes, providing a comprehensive solution for medical applications.
Advantech’s MIO-2363 supports onboard LPDDR4x-3733 (IBECC) and eMMC 5.1 up to 128GB. It supports wide voltage (12~24V) and Pico-ITX small size, saving space for additional DC converter power modules or external HDDs.
The MIO-2363 provides dual GbE LAN ports to meet industrial I/O requirements. This single board computer connects with a single M.2 E-Key to Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules, and another M.2 B-Key SATA/PCIe supports connection to 2242 SATA storage modules or 2242 PCIe RS-232 modules for expansion. This series of features makes the MIO-2363 an ideal choice for automation applications such as robotic arms or mobile measurement.
Advantech integrates the operating systems of the MIO-5152 and MIO-2363 with the WISE-DeviceOn IoT management software. This software provides an integrated package for embedded IoT devices, capable of monitoring the status of hardware, software, and peripherals simultaneously. The wireless (OTA) function ensures remote BIOS updates while providing backup recovery mechanisms. These features help avoid maintenance costs due to unexpected system failures. Additionally, this software package simplifies upgrades for edge IoT devices, bringing more value to Advantech’s MIO-5152 and MIO-2363.
